When inserting dimensioning, it is possible, by clicking any two points – including of different graphical objects (lines, polygons, etc.) – to determine the point which lies on the center of the imagined connection line between the identified points. A point thus determined then serves as the start or end point of dimensioning. The center can be calculated for all dimensioning, except for the radius dimension. A sensible field of application for this functionality can be found wherever there is no real point that can be snapped.
- In the menu select a dimensioning type, for example Insert > Dimensioning > Linear dimension.
- Hold down the [Ctrl] key and enter the first measuring point.
By pressing the [Ctrl] key, you start the calculation of the center between two points when entering measuring points. In the graphical editor, this becomes visible by a change in color for the auxiliary line on the cursor. - Then, for example, use the mouse to set the end point for the calculation of the center.
The calculated point is used as a starting point for dimensioning. - Then, enter the second measuring point for dimensioning. If this is also to draw upon the center of a line / graphical object, again press the [Ctrl] key to determine this point by two mouse-clicks.
The dimensioning is inserted between the calculated center and the second measuring point. - End the action via the Cancel action popup menu item or via the [Esc] button.
