Check Run Messages: Message Numbers, Classes, and Categories

Check run messages are output with a message number in the message management dialog and represented with a particular icon.

Message numbers, classes

Every check run is identified by a unique number. In addition to this, the message number also provides information about the class in which the message has occurred. The message number consists of a string of six characters: These first three digits specify the class, e.g. cable, plug, PLC, etc., the last three digits identify the specific message within the class.

Message categories

Check run messages are divided into three categories based on the seriousness of the underlying error: A particular icon is assigned to each category. Icons and message categories have the following relationships:

Error

Warning

Note.

For check run messages you can define the category yourself. These settings are stored in a scheme. This allows the project to be passed on while still retaining the classification of the messages.

Displayed language

The display of messages is language-dependent and is based on the dialog language currently configured. Later translation or redisplay of messages is unnecessary.

If, for instance, the dialog language is changed from German to English and the project edited previously is opened, then the existing messages will also be displayed in English.
