Optimizing Nets Manually

Nets can be connected in the multi-line planning:

The logic of the net transmission can be used also for part placements through the manual optimization of a net. New conductor chains are generated. Fixed connections (jumpers, direct connections, internal connections) remain in place and cannot be optimized.

Precondition:

You have created routing connections. One complete net is highlighted in the layout space navigator or in the connections navigator.

  1. Select the menu items Project data > Connections > Optimize net manually.

All part placements to be connected are colored red.

Part placements not involved are represented as transparent.

All sources or targets not visible are displayed.
  2. Click all red part placements, one by one, that are to be connected to each other.

All part placements that have only one connection point in the net and two connections are colored green.

Part placements that have one connection point in the net and one connection are colored yellow.

If a part placement has several connection points in the net, clicking it will display a list of connection points from which you can select a connection point.

Connections are generated in the sequence of clicking.
  3. To define a new chain, press the [N] key.

Jumpered red part placements and those at the start and at the end that have only a connected connection are highlighted in yellow. They can be used once again to close a ring or to start a new chain.

After clicking the last red part placement, a check is run to see whether the net is a complete single block.

The Optimize net manually dialog is displayed; here you can define whether the last chain is to be closed to form a ring and whether the new connections are to be routed.
  4. In the Optimize net manually dialog, click [OK].

The generated connections are routed in the new routing tracks.
