Filing off Subprojects

In order to file off subprojects mark the desired non-overlapping defined working sections in the dialog Subprojects and click the [File off] button.

This initiates the following:

  • In the dialogs for the defined working sections the subproject is entered as the user of the defined working section (indicated by the number of the subproject). The defined working section is blocked for other users, and an activation of the check box in the My defined working section column is also not possible.
  • The Copy project functionality with the Only header data option is used when creating a subproject. This ensures that all the project properties, settings and master data are "inherited" to the subproject. In addition, all the pages, layout spaces and pre-planning segments of the respective defined working section are copied into the subproject.
The name of the original project is stored in the subproject in the Subproject of (ID 25100) project property so that the association to the original project is retained. In addition the subproject number is also stored in the project properties.
  • All the functions and interruption points in the subproject that have a cross-reference to an object lying outside this subproject automatically receive the Cross-reference (external) (ID 25102) property. The cross-references to the counterpieces located in the original project are stored by means of this property. In addition, all the objects with a cross-reference to the original project are protected against changes by means of the Change protection (ID 3014) property.
  • In the original project the corresponding pages, layout spaces, pre-planning segments and structure identifiers are blocked for changes. The Change protection (ID 3014) property is activated automatically for these objects. The number of the filed-off subproject is displayed in the Subproject number (ID 25101) property at the pages, layout spaces and pre-planning segments of the original project.
  • The created subprojects are displayed in the page navigator. This contains the name of the original project to which a three-digit number in square brackets is attached. This is the subproject number (for example ESS_Sample_Project#003).

After being filed off the subproject can either be edited directly or be passed on to external editors in the form of a data backup.
