In EPLAN Pro Panel Professional it is possible to import geometry models from 3D CAD programs and to enrich them with all the relevant information on the mounting layout. The geometry model enriched in EPLAN Pro Panel with information can be exported back to the 3D CAD program to have an integral fully parametric 3D model there. This technique is called Design Space Exchange (DSE).
The following is possible:
- Importing of model data in STEP format that were exported from 3D CAD programs
- Automatic interpretation of the geometry model
- Implementation of the required 3D mounting layout in EPLAN Pro Panel in the geometry model from the 3D CAD program. Insertion of information about drill holes, threads, standard form cut-outs or outline-based cut-outs
- Exporting of the EPLAN data generated in 3D mounting layout (mounting rails, wire ducts, information about drill holes, threads, cut-outs) in the form of an XML file
- Integration and interpretation of the data from the XML file in Autodesk Inventor into the original 3D CAD file
- Automatic placement of the mechanical and electrical devices in the parametric 3D model in Autodesk Inventor
- Automatic interpretation of the NC-relevant information from EPLAN Pro Panel
- Automatic implementation of the NC-relevant information from EPLAN Pro Panel in fully parametric Inventor geometry components (drill holes, threads, slotted holes, cut-outs, etc.).
These results are available:
- In the electrotechnical field: A fully developed control system enclosure including as-built documentation for the manufacturing.
- In the mechanical field: A complete parametric 3D model supplemented with information from EPLAN as the basis for the manufacturing integration and documentation of the housing.
