Defining the Field Size of Mounting Surfaces

The "field size" defines the size of an NC-relevant mounting surface from a production perspective. NC machines determine the coordinates of the drill holes and milling cuts to be made, always starting from a point of origin where they wait for a surface to be machined. Therefore, you must consider whether a mounting panel including attachments will be inserted in the drilling robot or whether the attachments will be removed first. The field size signals to the machine the size of the item to be machined and the location of the surface to be machined on the machine.

Preconditions:

  • You have opened a project.
  • You have opened the layout space navigator and a layout space.
  • Surfaces of an item are defined as NC-relevant mounting surfaces.
  1. Select the Field size popup menu item in the layout space navigator.

Two vertical and two horizontal lines that delimit the field size are displayed.
  2. Click one after the other on the lines and move these.

After the lines have been placed, the field size of this mounting surface are redefined.

Notes:

  • When creating macros with NC-relevant mounting surfaces, the field size is not entered automatically but must be defined manually.
  • The field size can only be placed on mounting surfaces that are suitable for the NC export, for example mounting panel front, rear panel outside, side panel outside, mounting surface NC front, flange plate inside.
