Fill patterns (or hatching) serve to graphically highlight closed areas and visually delimit elements from one another. Using the Fill pattern display property, it is possible to assign a pattern to closed areas in the P&I diagram in Eplan.
In order to define fill patterns for closed graphical elements (rectangles, polylines, arcs, etc.) on P&I diagram pages, the Fill display property is available in the property dialog of these graphical elements below the Format hierarchy level.
The drop-down list for the Fill display property can be used to specify the fill type for closed surfaces.
The following options are available on P&I diagram pages:
- No fill
- Single-color fill
- Fill pattern
- Single-color fill with pattern
When you select one of the options with fill pattern, the Fill pattern subordinate hierarchy level is displayed. Here you can select a predefined pattern for the Pattern display property by means of a selection dialog and specify settings for it.
On the pages of the other page types, only the two options "No fill" and "Single-color fill" are available for the Fill display property when the graphical elements are closed. This is also the case for comments with a closed graphic and for boxes (such as structure boxes, device boxes, etc.) on all page types.
The set display settings for the fill pattern can be transferred to the closed areas of other graphical elements by copying and pasting if the displayed display properties match.
Fill patterns can only be edited on P&I diagram pages. If a fill pattern is set for a closed graphical element and if the element is copied, for example by copying and pasting, to a page of a different page type, the fill pattern and other display properties are displayed, but the fill pattern cannot be edited. It is only possible to remove the fill. To this purpose the Fill display property can still be edited in such a case.
