Add documentations
This functionality is only available for the "Admin" role and the "Designer" role.
- Click Documentations in the navigation bar.
- Click the
icon.
- Select Documentation.
The Add documentation dialog opens.
Follow the further steps.
1. Register an enclosure
Register a Rittal enclosure by entering its data in ePocket. You can either obtain the data from the type plate of the Rittal enclosure or import the data from an ePocket ZIP file.
- Register enclosure
- Select the option Enter data from type plate or Import data from ePocket ZIP file.
Depending on which option you choose, you can no longer use the other option.
Enter data from the type plate
You need the following data, which you find on the type plate of the enclosure: The enclosure series, the part number and the serial number of the enclosure. Collect the data manually in ePocket or by means of the QR code that you find on the type plate.
- In the dialog, select the Enter data from the type plate option.
- Select the option Enter data manually or Scan QR code.
Enter data manually
- Select the enclosure series.
- Enter the part number.
- Enter the serial number.
- Click Save.
- Click Next.
The data are applied and the enclosure is registered.
Scan QR code
You can enter the data by scanning the QR code on the type plate. The scan functionality is compatible with the type plate QR code of Rittal enclosures. Alternatively, you can also upload a type plate QR code as a file (*.jpg, *.jpeg, *.png, *.svg, *.gif, *.bmp). The file must not exceed 5 MB.
- Click Open camera.
- Scan the QR code on the Rittal type plate.
- Click Next.
Optionally, you can also upload the QR code as a file from your local device.
The data are applied and the enclosure is registered.
Import data from ePocket ZIP file
Register the enclosure with an ePocket ZIP file. An ePocket ZIP file is a ZIP file that has been downloaded from ePocket. The information about the registration is already stored in this ZIP file.
With this option, not only is the enclosure registered, but all other files in the ZIP file are also added.
- In the dialog, select the Import data from ePocket ZIP file option.
- Use Drag & Drop or the Browse button to add an ePocket ZIP file.
- Click Next.
The view is extended.
The ePocket ZIP file is added.
2. Add contents
Add contents and structure the documentation. The availability of the options in the second step depends on the selection of the options that you made when you registered the enclosure.
- Enter documentation name
- Choose location
- Import folder
- Use template
Enter documentation name
This option is only available to you if you selected the Enter data from the type plate option in the first step.
- Enter a name for the documentation.
Choose location
- Click Change location.
- Select an existing location or add a new location.
- Click Save.
- Select the option Import folder or Use template.
The view is extended.
The documentation is assigned to the location.
Import folder
This option is only available to you if you selected the Enter data from the type plate option in the first step.
If you select the Import folder option, you can no longer use the option Use template.
Note
Not all browsers support this functionality.
This option allows you to upload content that you have collected in a folder.
- Select the Import folder option.
- Click Browse.
- Select a folder.
- Click Next.
The view is extended.
The folder is imported.
The folder name is automatically applied as the documentation name. If you have already entered a name in the input field Documentation name, it will be overwritten. The documentation name can be retroactively modified.
Use template
This option is only available to you if you selected the Enter data from the type plate option in the first step.
If you select the Use template option, you can no longer use the option Import folder.
Select a template to structure the documentation. Under Settings you can create all templates that are available to you in the drop-down list. More information about how to create a template, is available here.
- Select the Use template option.
- Open the drop-down list with the templates.
- Select a template.
- Click Next.
The view is extended.
3. Show summary
In the last step, you receive an overview of your settings. A preview of the Rittal sticker is also displayed.

- Click Add documentation.
The documentation is added.
The dialog does not close automatically. Instead, you are shown possible next steps.
You cannot edit the sticker in the summary yet. If you want to edit the sticker, you have to close the dialog and open the sticker via the details of the documentation, see QR codes.
