Extending the borrowing period

Licenses can only be borrowed and used in combination with the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator).

Preconditions:

• The computer on which the Eplan product is used has a connection to the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator).
• Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator) is installed on a server of your company and was activated with a Concurrent License:
• Activating a Concurrent License - with Internet connection
• Activating a Concurrent License - without Internet connection

The borrowed license can be borrowed at maximum for a period specified by the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator). After this period has expired, the Eplan product can only be used again after a further licensing has been performed. Within this period, the Eplan product can also be used without connection to the Eplan License Manager.

With network connection

1. Start the Eplan product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

The Select license dialog is opened.

2. Select the following menu items: Concurrent License > Borrow license > From License Manager (online).

The Borrow license dialog is opened.

3. Change the borrowing period.
4. Click Extend.

The Borrow license dialog is opened and confirms the extension of the borrowing period.

5. Click Close.
6. Click OK.
7. The Eplan product starts.

Without network connection

Make sure to perform all steps in the following order:

1. Create request file

1. Start the Eplan product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

The Select license dialog is opened.

2. Select the following menu items: Concurrent License > Borrow license > Create request file.

The Create request file dialog opens.

3. Change the borrowing period.
4. Click Create.

The Create request file dialog opens.

5. Select Extend borrowed license.
6. Click OK.
7. Click Close.

The *.egr file has been stored.

2. Transferring the request file and receive a confirmation file

1. Send an e-mail with the request file *.egr and the administrator of the License Manager.
2. Receive an e-mail with the confirmation file *.egb from the administrator of the License Manager. For information on how the administrator can create the confirmation file, see Creating a confirmation file for borrowing.
3. Save the confirmation file *.egb.

3. Loading the confirmation file at existing installation

1. Start the Eplan product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

The Select license dialog is opened.

2. Select the following menu items: Concurrent License > Borrow license > Load confirmation file.

The Load confirmation file dialog is opened.

3. Click and select the *.egb confirmation file.
4. Click Open.

The file is displayed.

5. Click Load.

The Borrowed systems and extensions are listed.

6. Click Close.
7. Click OK.

The Check license dialog is opened and informs you about the borrowing period.

8. The Eplan product can now be used.
9. The Eplan product starts.
