The Workspace / Workdesk section of the Settings dialog contains settings applicable to the workspace / workdesk environment.
Note:
The number of displayed options depends on the environment from which the settings were opened. All the options are available when the settings are launched from the workspace / workdesk environment.
The following dialog elements are available:
Workspace / Workdesk
This main node encompasses the following dialog elements:
- Color for selected objects: Determines the color of selected objects.
- Color for highlighted objects: Determines the color of objects when they are highlighted (i.e. if you hover the mouse over the object).
- Default object color: Default color of newly created objects without specific color settings (e.g. control points).
- Reference planes visible: Determines if the reference planes are visible in the workspace / workdesk working window.
- Reference plane size: Determines the size of the reference planes in the workspace / workdesk working window.
- Axis triad visible: Toggles visibility of the axis triad.
- Enlarge pins during highlighting: If it is activated, pins become enlarged on mouse-over.
- Navigation cube visible: Toggles visibility of the navigation cube, home button and rotation controls. Navigation cube isn't available in workdesk.
- Navigation cube size: Determines the size of the navigation cube.
- Navigation cube home button view: Determines the home button view of the navigation cube.
- Up direction axis: Sets the axis, which defines the up direction in the workspace working window.
Length calculation
In this subnode, you will find the two areas.
Fixed lengths have the following dialog elements:
- Snap to required length: If activated, the mouse is snapped to the required length, including the absolute / relative tolerance, with the distance at which the mouse is snapped depending on the tolerance. Once the mouse is snapped, smooth movement is possible into a direction in which the required length becomes more precise. Otherwise, in order to move it again, you have to move the mouse a small distance, and once you are past the snap zone, you can move the mouse again.
- Required length tolerance
- Absolute / Relative: Determines the default +/- tolerance in mm / percentage of the required length.
Length annotations have the following dialog elements:
- Default visibility:
- Always: If you move, for instance, a control point of a bundle, length annotations of wires routed in the bundle are always shown even though the wires do not have set the fixed length.
- Fixed lengths only: If you move, for instance, a control point of a bundle, length annotations are shown only for those wires which have set the fixed length.
- Never: No length annotations are shown even though paths (wires, cables, bundles, surface protections) have set the fixed length.
- Font: Determines the settings of font, font size, and font style for fixed length annotations.
EPLAN import panel
This subnode encompasses the following dialog elements:
- Export not connected pins: Exports function definitions of pins that are not connected.
- Open project dialog on reload: Opens the Import from EPLAN Platform wizard again if the button
Reload project is pressed from the EPLAN import panel when a EPLAN Platform project or *.hpdex file is already imported. If this checkbox is deactivated, press the [SHIFT] key + Reload project to achieve the same behavior. - Show only pins with accessories: Toggles whether all pins or only pins with accessory are displayed in the EPLAN import panel within connectable objects.
Graphics
This subnode encompasses the following dialog elements:
- Graphics driver: Determines the driver for displaying
graphics. OpenGL2, Direct3D (default), and GDI are available.
Note:
OpenGL2 may not work correctly with Remote Desktop Connection.
- Graphics settings group box: For the Preset setting, the following entries are available in the drop-down list:
- Best performance: focus on best performance
- Balanced: balance between performance and display quality
- Best quality: focus on best display quality
- User-defined: when selected, the Antialiasing, Shading model, Pixel culling threshold, Local soft shadows, Backface culling and Fast transparency settings can be customized.
- Antialiasing: In computer graphics, antialiasing is the process of removing or reducing the jagged distortions in curves and diagonal lines so that the lines appear smoother. You can select one of the available values from this drop-down list. The values for the other settings are determined automatically.
- Shading model: The following shading models are available for the User-defined preset:
- Flat shading: requires the least processing. Each facet of an object has one color and is illuminated individually.
- Gouraud: better display quality than the Flat shading setting.
- Phong: best quality, smooth shading.
- Gooch: non-photorealistic rendering, suitable for dark / bright objects.
- Pixel culling threshold: Objects smaller than the value determined here are not displayed in the workspace / workdesk.
- Local soft shadows: Turns on / off the shadows of objects.
- Backface culling: If check-marked, all surfaces seen from behind are culled.
- Fast transparency: If activated, the internal transparency calculation is accelerated.
- Constant frame rate group box: Activate the Enabled check box to ensure a sufficient frame rate when handling a view. If the frame rate drops below the limit (set internally), the pixel culling value is increased up to the maximum pixel culling threshold level determined in the Threshold field. This means, objects smaller than the threshold are being hidden when moving a view.
Measuring
This subnode encompasses the following dialog elements:
- Font group box: Determines the settings of font, font size, and font style for displaying the measurements in the working window.
Rapid prototyping
This subnode encompasses the following dialog elements:
- Share general properties (weight, cost, temperature, color ...): See Rapid Prototyping Parts Properties.
- Cable: In this subnode you determine the default settings Outside diameter, Cable color, No. of wires, Wire cross-section, Wire outside diameter, Wire color, Wire name prefix, and Show before placing for rapid prototyping cables.
- Connectable object: In this subnode you determine the default settings Ribbon connectable object, Connectable object shape, Connectable object size, Connectable object color, No. of pins, Grouped pin size, Pin color, Pin name prefix, and Show before placing for rapid prototyping connectable objects.
- Ribbon cable: In this subnode you determine the default settings Width, Height, Cable color, No. of wires, Wire name prefix, and Show before placing for rapid prototyping ribbon cables.
- Splice: In this subnode you determine the default settings Size, Color, No. of pins, Pin name prefix, and Show before placing for rapid prototyping splices.
- Wire: In this subnode you determine the default settings Cross-section, Outside diameter, Color, and Show before placing for rapid prototyping wires.
