Supplemental parts provide a way of defining assemblies or modules more precisely. This can be necessary if specific parts are required to create the assembly or module, but cannot be purchased as separate parts and should also not be listed in the reports. For parts with this record type it is therefore not possible to deactivate the Suppress in bill of materials property.
Preconditions:
- You have opened the Parts management dialog (Tab Master data > Command group Parts > Management).
- You have selected the "Supplemental part" hierarchy level or a supplemental part in the tree.
- Select the New popup menu item in the tree.
If you have highlighted the "Supplemental part" hierarchy level, Eplan generates a new supplemental part with the part number New(<Consecutive_Number>). This is also the case when you have selected the hierarchy level of one of the generic product groups, such as "Fluid power", for example (if no hierarchy level of the supplemental parts exists in the tree yet).
If you have marked a part of a supplemental part, Eplan generates a new supplemental part with the part number Original_part_number(<Consecutive_Number>).
- In the right-hand section of the dialog change to the Properties tab.
- Change the automatically assigned entry for the Part number property in the General hierarchy level.
- Change the product grouping for the supplemental part, if hierarchy levels with the "Undefined" designation have occurred. This is the case, for example, when you have selected the "Supplemental part" hierarchy level.
- To this purpose click in the Value column for the Product grouping property and then click [...]. From the drop-down list with the product groups double-click to select the desired product subgroup (e.g. "General").
The selected product grouping is displayed in the Product grouping property. After application of the modifications the product grouping is also displayed for the hierarchy levels in the tree.
- Enter the further data of the supplemental part (e.g. Manufacturer) in the Properties tab.
- Click [Apply] to save the entries and modifications without leaving parts management.
Note:
If no "Supplemental part" hierarchy level is available for a generic product group (e.g. Fluid power) in the tree, you create a supplemental part via the New > Supplemental part popup menu items.
