Image files in the JPG, BMP, ICO, PNG, or TIFF formats can be inserted in Eplan.
Precondition:
You have opened a project. You have opened an editor such as the graphical editor, the plot frame editor, etc.
- Select the following commands: Tab Insert > Command group External > Image file.
- In the Select image file dialog, select a file using the file selector.
- In the Copy image file dialog you decide whether the source directory is to be kept for the file or whether the file is to be copied into the project directory.
- Click [OK].
- Pull a frame open in which the image will be scaled.
The original page ratios are kept when placing.
- You can change the display properties of the image file in the Properties (image file) dialog.
- Click [OK].
If you have selected the Copy option in the dialog Copy image file, the image file is copied to the
Images subdirectory of the project. There the image file is not stored directly, but in a further separate subdirectory. The name of this subdirectory is derived from the source directory name.
Display of an image file in the schematic
Notes:
- All image files located in the project directory are saved when backing up the project. To take referenced image files into account as well, you must activate the Automatically copy referenced files setting when backing up.
- The tooltip indicates whether only the source directory is referenced for an image file that was inserted in the graphical editor or whether this image file was copied into the project directory. In the case of a referenced image file only the file name with the source directory is displayed in the tooltip. In the case of an image file stored in the project the type of storage ("Manually copied" or "Automatically copied") and the storage location are additionally displayed.
- When deleting a page, the image files copied into the project directory are not deleted. Image files and external documents that are stored in the project and are no longer in use can be removed again by compressing the project.
- To output image files on report pages, the Display drop-down list is available for placeholder texts in the Property (placeholder text) dialog on the Format tab below the "Alignment box" hierarchy level. You can, for example, use the "Image file" option for the Image file part property in order to display the image file of an assigned part on a report page.
Tip:
Image files that have not been inserted into the project directory can be copied manually into the project directory when backing up projects using the Copy referenced files manually into the project dialog. As a result the link (the type of storage) is also changed. This dialog can also be opened via the following command path: Tab Master data > Command group Synchronization > Store documents.
If an image file has been deleted from its directory and can therefore no longer be displayed, a rectangle with the file path is displayed in its place.
Tip:
You can insert an image file using drag and drop, by dragging the selected image file from the Windows Explorer into the graphical editor of your project.
