Dialog Settings: Graphical memory requirements

In this dialog you can control the graphical memory requirements.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Available graphics performance:

With this slide control you set the appropriate multisampling degree for the available graphics performance of your hardware.

Multisampling is a method of reducing aliasing effects in rendered graphics. In this method, each pixel is broken down into several sampling points. The higher the number of sampling points (= sample count), the smaller the aliasing effects in the rendered graphics. However, this also increases the graphical memory requirement. Four settings are available:

  • Low: With this setting, the multisampling is done with a sample count of 1.
  • Medium: With this setting the multisampling is done with a sample count of 2.
  • High: With this setting, the multisampling is done with a sample count of 4.
  • Very high: With this setting, the multisampling is done with a sample count of 8.

Increase the degree of detailing for 3D models:

By means of the "tessellation" an additional smoothing of roundings in 3D models is achieved.

Only available if the Available graphics performance slider is set to "Very high". If this check box is activated, the tessellation data is created in the background and the 3D graphics are then displayed in an improved quality.

Note:

You have to reopen the layout space after carrying out the setting, so that the changed setting acts on a layout space.
