You can insert PCT loops into a P&I diagram via the insert center. To this purpose, you select a P&I symbol in the insert center, assign a segment definition to the symbol and assign the PCT loop to the pre-planning structure of the project.

There are two ways to assign the PCT loop to the pre-planning structure:

• With the Select structure dialog that is displayed during insertion
• With the Structure segment for the P&I diagram property of the P&I diagram page

The following section describes the more convenient method via the Structure segment for the P&I diagram property of the P&I diagram page.

Preconditions:

• You have opened a project containing pre-planning data.
• You have opened a page of the "P&I diagram" type in the graphical editor.

1. Select the desired P&I diagram page in the page navigator.
2. Select the Properties popup menu item.
   
   The Page properties dialog is displayed.
3. In the Properties group box click (New).
4. In the Property selection dialog, select the Structure segment for the P&I diagram property and click [OK].
5. Click [...] in the Value column, and in the Select structure segment dialog, select an existing structure segment in the project under which the inserted PCT loops are to be placed later.
6. Confirm your entries.
7. In the insert center, select a P&I symbol for a PCT loop from the SPECIAL symbol library.
8. Drag & drop the symbol onto the P&I diagram page.
9. Click the desired position in the P&I diagram page.
10. Drag the symbol to the desired size and click again to place the symbol.
    
    The Select segment definition dialog is displayed.
11. Select the desired segment definition for the PCT loop and click [OK].
    
    The Properties (components): PCT loop dialog is displayed.
12. On the first tab in the Designation group box, define the values for the Technical facility, Measurand and Processing function.
    
    The PCT loop number that contains these defined values as components is displayed in the Full designation field.
13. If required, enter further data for the PCT loop.
14. Click [OK].
    
    In the pre-planning navigator, the new PCT loop is sorted and displayed below the structure segment selected for the P&I diagram page.
    
    The PCT loop is still attached on the cursor and can be placed again.
15. End the action via the Cancel action popup menu item or via the [Esc] button.
