It is often necessary to represent the same device several times. The affiliation of the corresponding components to this device is recognized by the program by the fact that all these components have the same device tag and are identified by the corresponding function definition. The cross-reference then shows where each other part of the device is to be found in the schematic. The following variants are possible for this:
- Device cross-references between general components (in this way functions displayed in a distributed manner are identified as "belonging together")
- Contact cross-references in the contact image (cross-references between the complete contact representations of a contactor or a motor protection circuit breaker and the individual contacts of these devices distributed in the schematic)
- Interruption point cross-references between interruption points
- Pair cross-references (cross-references between the complete contact representations of motor protection circuit breakers or on-load isolators and the individual contacts of these devices distributed in the schematic).
In the process, Eplan automatically inserts device, contact, and interruption point cross-references into the project data (online) during schematic editing. For pair cross-references, this automatic function only applies if the respective components of a device are made capable of cross-referencing by a specific setting.
The cross-reference display depends on the following factors:
- Structure and layout of the plot frame
- Settings for the cross-references; these are made either in the project settings or at the respective device.
Note:
Take the Cross-reference display (ID 20021) property into particular consideration for the properties of the components. This property can have the following values:
0 = Automatic display: Cross-references are only displayed if the displayed DT is not empty.
1 = Never display: Cross-references are never displayed.
2 = Always display: Cross-references are always displayed, regardless of whether the displayed DT is empty or not.
In connection with the plot frame used, the following should be noted when displaying cross-references: In contrast to components placed within the plot frame, cross-references to components inserted outside the plot frame do not contain column designations. Conversely, however, the component within the plot frame generates a complete cross-reference with page and column designations at the component outside.
A cross-reference with page and column designation to the interruption point lying within the plot frame is generated at the interruption point placed outside the plot frame. However, the interruption point placed outside cannot generate a valid column designation in the cross-reference of the interruption point positioned inside the plot frame.
