AutoAttaching Parts

The AutoAttach parts function automatically places wire terminals, cavity seals, or cavity plugs. For these to be autoAttached they must be added in EPLAN Harness proD Library to connectors, connectable objects, terminals, and special components. A newly assigned attached part receives the wire harness identifier of the part which it is assigned to (connector, connectable object, terminal, wire, or special component).

  1. Select the Tools > AutoAttach parts menu items.

The AutoAttach parts wizard is opened.
  2. In the AutoAttach additional parts group box, select the desired objects to be attached, removed or replaced by activating the corresponding check boxes and options.

If selected, the Delete redundant objects option will remove redundant objects with the effect that one wire terminal is left on a wire end and one cavity seal or cavity plug is left on a pin.
  3. In the Placement rules group box, activate the Place <object> if required check boxes if wire terminals, cavity seals, or cavity plugs are only to be placed if they have been determined as "required".
  4. Activate the Replace all <objects> while placing check boxes if already existing wire terminals, cavity seals, or cavity plugs are to be replaced.
  5. Activate the Enforce one wire terminal for multiple wires check box if the Multiple wire terminal setting is to be overridden.

In this case, one wire terminal is placed on each wire end connected to a pin. If the check box is not activated, each wire end connected to a pin receives one wire terminal.

    Note:

The Multiple wire terminal option is available in the properties panel when a pin is selected and can be defaulted in the workspace and workdesk settings in the Automatisms node.

  6. Once all settings have been determined, click [Start].

    AutoAttaching is carried out.

An error list is displayed with the errors in red and the successfully processed parts in black.
  7. Click [Save log file] if you want to save the log file for further reference.

A file selection dialog is opened.
  8. Browse to the desired location, enter a file name, and click [Save].

The file selection dialog is closed and a log file generated in the specified location.
  9. Click [Finish] to close the wizard.
