Placing Labels

A label is an adhesive or plastic tab used to label bundles (including those with surface protections), cables, and wires.

Labels inherit the Wire harness ID property of the object which they are placed on.

  1. Select the Insert > Place label menu items or the button on the toolbar.

The Part navigator dialog is opened.
  2. Select the label and click [OK].

The Part navigator dialog is closed.

If a suitable object had been selected before clicking the Place label button, the label is placed upon clicking [OK].
  3. Left-click to place the label on a supported object.

All selectable objects are highlighted when you move the mouse over them.
  4. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Place label button again, if desired.

Place label in workdesk with specified distance from control point

A label can be placed in the workdesk with a specified distance from an existing control point. In case the label is placed on a cable control point, it can be placed only on the particular cable layer on which the existing control point is located. In case the existing cable control point divides cable layers, the label can only be placed on either of the layers.

If the label is placed on a bundle control point, it can be placed only on the particular bundle segment on which the existing control point is located. The boundaries of the bundle segment are confined by the bundle's start / end control points (i.e. the control points where the bundle starts / ends or divides the bundle and the wire / cable / surface protection / other bundle) or split point (i.e. the control point where the bundle is branched).

In case the label is placed on a ribbon cable control point, it can be placed either on the ribbon cable or its branch if the ribbon cable is branched.

  1. Select the Place label menu items or the button on the toolbar.

The Part navigator dialog is opened.
  2. Select the label and click [OK].

The Part navigator dialog is closed.
  3. Left-click on the control point of a wire, cable, etc. to place the label.
  4. Select the direction of the label placement (either side of the control point path).
  5. Enter the Distance value into the command bar and press [Enter].
