Semi-auto Routing

The Semi-auto route command is used to semi-automatically route selected unrouted source objects through target objects.

Note:

Only stand-alone wires (not cable wires) are routed with this command.

Source objects are all objects which can be pulled through target objects. They include wires, rapid prototype wires, cables, empty cables, rapid prototype cables, bundles, surface protections, looms, wrap tapes, and flexible tubing. The target objects include bundles and all types of surface protections.

If a target object has several segments, the Semi-auto route function will pull the source object through two end points which you select.

Note:

It is not possible to pull source objects through control points.

The Semi-auto route function is a "one-step" function: it pulls the selected unrouted source objects through two end points of a target object that you select. To add a source object to more than one target object, use the Manual route function.

If there are any control points (or labels or cable ties) on the source objects before you add them to a target object, they will be lost after the objects are routed.

You can add a source object both to an empty and to a partially-filled target object.

  1. Select the Tools > Semi-auto route menu items or the button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the source objects to be routed by clicking (for multiple selection, hold down the [Ctrl] key while clicking).

All selectable objects are highlighted when you move the mouse over them.
  3. Finish the selection by right-clicking.
  4. Select a starting and a final end point of the desired target object by clicking.

The source objects are pulled through the two end points of the target object.
  5. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the Semi-auto route button again, if desired.
