Object Properties

The properties of the currently selected object can be displayed in the properties panel (if open). The properties are subclassified into several groups. Some of the properties can be customized to suit the needs of the user.

Note:

If the properties panel is closed it can be (re-)opened via the main menu (View > Windows > Show properties).

General properties

This section contains general information about a selected object.

The basic property which is displayed for all objects is the Name property which determines the name of the individual object which is displayed in the Tree view panel.

Note:

For connectable objects and special components, the Name property is substituted by the REFDES property.

The value of the Library name property is the library name of an object; this property is available only for objects placed from Library. The Internal part number property is also contained in this section.

If alternative parts have been defined for an item in Library, these are available in the Alt. parts drop-down list. If an alternative part is compatible with the placed item, it can be easily replaced by means of the (Replace) button.

The Selectable check box determines whether an object can be selected by left-clicking in the working window or not.

The Wire harness and Cable unit are very important properties for objects such as bundles, cables, wires, connectors, special components, leading parts, surface protections, etc. They define which objects belong to the wire harness / cable unit. This is the basic prerequisite for nailboard, cable drawing and report derivation.

Note:

The content of the General section differs for the individual object types.

Advanced properties

This section contains mainly the properties applied from Library, advanced specifications or customizations. These can differ for the individual object types.

For objects such as wires, cables, and bundles you can determine the El. class property. This property can, e.g., prevent high- and low-voltage wires from being routed in one bundle. Such a conflict can be easily recognized in the Tasks list.

For most objects you can also determine the electrical options in the El. options group box. And you can also select a preferred Supplier.

Position properties

This section defines the position and rotation of an object within the working window.

Notes:

Attached documents

This section displays the attached documents of the items placed from Library. The section is not displayed if the library component does not have any attached documents assigned.

User-defined properties

This section contains the user-defined properties of the currently selected object. These can be imported from Library or be determined directly in this section.
