Determining a Default 2D Window for Nailboard / Cable Drawing

Parts that can have multiple 2D windows (such as connectors, terminals, cable ties, labels, etc.) may use different 2D windows to be represented by a different symbol within a nailboard and cable drawing respectively.

By default the first 2D window created is set to , representing both the nailboard and the cable drawing symbol. The best practice is to have different symbols in the first and second 2D windows and define the second 2D window as the default for the cable drawing.

Furthermore, it is possible to use two separate 2D windows for left-oriented and right-oriented cable drawing symbols. A typical use would be to create a top view symbol in the first 2D window for the nailboard (for connectable objects and special components), a side view in the second 2D window for the left-hand side of the cable drawing, and finally a mirrored side view in a third 2D window for the right-hand side of the cable drawing.

The default 2D window for cable drawings can be optionally placed if it is set in the Cable drawing display configuration set editor. Furthermore, visibility of the 2D pins for the Connectable object symbol and Splice symbol objects can be toggled in the Cable drawing display configuration set editor.

Prerequisite:

You have an active 2D window of a part which can have multiple 2D windows.

  1. In the 2D window, select the Edit > Default for nailboard menu items to determine the active 2D window as a default symbol for the nailboard.

The 2D window is set as the default symbol to be used in the nailboard.
  2. In the 2D window, select the Edit > Default for left-/right-hand side of cable drawing menu items to determine it as a default symbol for the left- or right-hand side of the cable drawing.

The 2D window is set as the default symbol to be used in the left- or right-hand side of the cable drawing. This step can be repeated for the other side to make this 2D window represent both sides of the cable drawing with an identical symbol.
