Shrink Tubing

Shrink tubing is a tube which shrinks in diameter when heated. It's one type of surface protection.

Surface protection can be placed onto bundles. You can place one surface protection on two or more bundles which are connected by using the Stretch surface protection function or the Shrink surface protection function.

The source objects are placed either automatically between two end points or manually between any two control points or end points on the target objects. The source objects are placed either on an existing target object, or they can be placed freely in the working window, and other source objects can be led through them later. In such a case, they will be created together with a bundle.

Placing shrink tubing as a non-graphical part

Shrink tubing can be placed onto connectable objects and special components as non graphical parts. This kind of shrink tubing will have a 2D graphical representation in the cable drawing with the center at the connecting point of the component. The general properties contain these shrink tubing properties:

Non-graphical shrink tubing in Nailboard & Cable Drawing environments

In a nailboard a non-graphical shrink tubing is not displayed graphically, but its properties may be used in the decorations of the part it's attached to.

In a cable drawing a non graphical shrink tubing is displayed graphically; it's properties can be customized in Tools > Cable drawing display configuration set editor > Shrink tubing overlap (see Dialog Cable drawing display configuration set editor). Note that in a cable drawing, the shrink tubing's drawn inner and outer overlap lengths are capped at 20 mm.
