Aligning Coordinate Systems

The Align coordinate systems command is available in the workspace environment. It is primarily used to accurately place objects by means of the coordinate systems attached to them.

Before being placed in Studio, the coordinate system must be part of an object and must be saved together with this object in Library. It is also possible to insert a part which only contains a coordinate system, but, again, it must be created in Library before being placed in Studio.

  1. Select the Edit > Align coordinate systems menu items or the button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the source coordinate system (the one to be moved) by clicking.
  3. In the command bar, lock the desired axis.
  4. Toggle the positive / negative direction of the unlocked axes.
  5. Move the mouse over the target coordinate system.

    A preview is shown.
  6. Left-click to align the objects.
  7. Repeat the command by using the space bar or clicking the [Align coordinate systems] button again, if desired.
