Placing Non-graphical Parts

The Place non graphical part function allows for placing library objects without any graphic representation in the workspace / workdesk. This technique serves mainly to include such parts into the corresponding reports and the bills of materials.

Any library item (with the exception of drawing header, drawing border, nail, and 2D symbol) can be placed in any workspace / workdesk as a non-graphical part.

Non-graphical parts are placed within existing components in the workspace / workdesk; they are listed under the node of the associated component in the workspace / workdesk tree view.

Non-graphical parts are assigned the wire harness ID from the parent component, regardless of whether automatic wire harness affiliation is turned on or off in the workspace or workdesk settings. For this reason they are part of the bill of materials.

Assuming that non-graphical parts have a wire harness ID assigned, they are displayed in the corresponding reports. I.e. a non-graphical special component is listed in the special components report, a non-graphical connector is listed in the connector report, etc.

Note:

Non-graphical parts are placed without any attached parts.

  1. Select the Insert > Place non-graphical part menu items or the button on the main toolbar.

The Part navigator dialog is opened.
  2. Select the desired non-graphical part and click [OK].

The Part navigator dialog is closed.
  3. Select an existing component in the workspace / workdesk working window or in the tree view.

The non-graphical part is placed below the node of the selected component in the tree view.
