The following dialog elements are available:
Annotation
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Line pattern: Determines the default line pattern of the annotation.
- Line thickness: Determines the default line thickness of the annotation.
- Color: Determines the default color of the annotation.
- Font: Determines the default font of the annotation.
- Symbol shape: Determines the default size and symbol shape of the annotation. The following shapes are available:
- Not set
- Point
- Square
- Plus
- Cross
- Star
- Arrow
- Text box: Here you can toggle the visibility of the text box and determine its default shape. The following shapes are available:
- Rectangle
- Corners
- Circle
- Ellipse
AutoDimensions
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Total length: Toggles the display of the dimension of the total length of the longest cable branch.
- Connectors: Determines how Total length and AutoDimension branches dimensions are calculated. The following options are available:
- With connectable object: Calculates the cable branch length between connectable objects and special components using their dimension points.
- Without connectable object: Calculates the cable branch length between connectable objects and special components using their control points.
- Surface protections: Toggles dimensions of bundles and surface protections.
- Cable insulations and shields: Toggles dimensions of cable insulators, shields, and twisted options.
- Exposed lengths of wires: Toggles dimensions of unrouted wires.
- Label, clip, and splice: Toggles dimensions of labels, clips, and splices.
- Attach to: Determines where the dimension of labels, clips, and splices is created. The following options are available:
- Centric to symbol: Dimensions are created at the center of the labels, clips, and splices.
- At outer symbol edge: Dimensions are created at the outermost point of the labels, clips, and splices either on the left or on the right side of the symbol.
- AutoDimension branches: Toggles dimensions of the total length for each individual cable branch.
Note:
In cases where there are multiple paths connecting the measured points, the dimension of the shortest path will be displayed. A wire or cable length stored in loops is ignored by the AutoDimensions function.
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:

- Line thickness: Determines the default line thickness of the balloon annotation.
- Color: Determines the default color of the balloon annotation.

The cable tie symbol is always placed. It is the symbol in the first 2D window if the cable tie has multiple 2D windows.
Cable tie symbol
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Place: Toggles the placement of the cable tie symbol either in a new cable drawing or when the cable drawing display configuration is applied.
- Decorations: A decoration is defined here.
The cable tie symbol is an additional view of the cable tie. This additional view is the default 2D window for cable drawings if it is set accordingly.
Clip
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Line pattern: Determines the default line pattern of clips.
- Line thickness: Determines the default line thickness of clips.
- Show drawing: Toggles visibility of the default clip symbol.
- Show symbol: Toggles visibility of the clip symbol (symbol in 2D window in EPLAN Harness proD Library).
- Decorations: A decoration is defined here.
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Place: Toggles the placement of the coating either in a new cable drawing or when the cable drawing display configuration is applied.
- Coating length: Determines the length of the coating. The length of the coating defined in workspace / workdesk is overridden by this value.
- Coating width: Determines the width of the coating.
- Coating color: Determines the color of the coating.
- Decorations: A decoration is defined here.
Connectable object
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Show wires: Determines whether wires going from fan point to connectable object are shown individually or as a whole. If activated, wires are displayed as a single path with default hatch.
- Decorations: A decoration is defined here.
The connectable object is always placed. It is the symbol in the first 2D window if the connectable object has multiple 2D windows.
Connectable object symbol
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Place: Toggles the placement of the connectable object symbol either in a new cable drawing or when the cable drawing display configuration is applied.
- 2D pins visible: Toggles the visibility of 2D pins in a connectable object symbol.
- Decorations: A decoration is defined here.
The connectable object symbol is an additional view of the connectable object. This additional view is the default 2D window for cable drawings if it is set accordingly.
Control point

- Outer offset: Sets the offset of the outer (continuous) line making up the outside surface of the shrink tubing.
Note:
By default the inner and outer lines overlap. Negative offset values can be used.
- Show inner line: Toggles visibility of the inner line.

- Show symbol: Toggles visibility of the special component symbol (symbol in 2D window in EPLAN Harness proD Library).
- Decorations: A decoration is defined here.
- Place: Toggles the placement of the special component symbol either in a new nailboard or when the nailboard display configuration is applied.
- 2D pins visible: Toggles the visibility of 2D pins in a new nailboard or when the nailboard display configuration is applied.
- Font: Determines the default font of splice spider diagrams.
- Leg length: Determines the default length of splice spider diagram legs.
The special component symbol is an additional view of the connectable object. This additional view is the default 2D window for cable drawings if it is set accordingly.
Surface protections
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Apply color to bundles: Determines if bundles are black or if the color from the workspace / workdesk is used.
- Apply color to surface protections: Determines if surface protections are black or if the color from the workspace / workdesk is used.
In the subnode of each type of surface protection, you find a combination of the following dialog elements:
- Hatch override: Toggles the hatch override as "on" / "off".
- Hatch: The default hatch is overridden by the hatch specified here.
Symbol
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Decorations: A decoration is defined here.
Tables
In the subnode of each table, you find the following dialog elements:
- Place: Toggles the placement of the particular table either in a new cable drawing or when the cable drawing display configuration is applied. Available for connectable object tables and special components tables.
- Use header: Toggles the display of the particular table header.
- Use note: Toggles the display of the particular table note.
- Use title: Toggles the display of the particular table title.
- AutoSize text: This option fills the table cells with text regardless of the font settings. If deactivated, the font settings are applied.
- Show header at bottom: This option moves the table headers from the top row to the bottom row of the table.
- AutoFit: Toggles the automatic table cell dimension adjustment to fit around text after changes are made in the Table settings.
- Unconnected wires: Toggles the display of unconnected wires in the particular table. Available for connectable object tables and special components tables.
- Unconnected pins: Toggles the display of unconnected pins in the particular table. Available for connectable object tables and special components tables.
- Columns:
- Show: Toggles which columns will be displayed in the table.
- Sort: Double-clicking this field toggles sorting of the table according to the data in this column. You can toggle between ascending ▲ or descending ▼ sorting.
- New user-defined property: Clicking allows for the addition of columns that list user-defined properties. The name of the column must match the name of the user-defined property to be listed. Clicking removes the selected user-defined property column.
- Sort by types: Toggle to sort the table so that a specific type of component is listed first. If multiple types are selected for sorting, they will be sorted in the order in which they are positioned within this table. This type of sorting has a priority over sorting by column toggled via Columns.
- Item numbers: Modifies how item numbers of specific part types are numbered and displayed using the following elements:
- Global counter: Toggles whether items of this part type will be numbered independently of other parts.
- Prefix: Add a prefix to the item number.
- Suffix: Add a suffix to the item number.
- Delimiters: Convert the item number into a number range, spanning the quantity of each part and delimited by the characters used.

Making changes to item numbers in this way will also change the balloon annotations that use these numbers.
Furthermore, the Content, Header, Title, Note, Grid line and Border line formatting can be edited here. A decoration can be defined in Decorations.
Wire
- Line thickness: Determines the default line thickness for wires.
In this main node, you find the following dialog elements:
- Place: Toggles the placement of the wire symbol either in a new cable drawing or when the cable drawing display configuration is applied.
- Wire symbol: Here a wire symbol from the library can be assigned to the cable drawing display configuration. Each cable drawing display configuration can have only one wire symbol assigned.
Note:
For cable ties, clips, labels, and special components at least one of the Show drawing or Show symbol settings must be activated.
