Using Existing Libraries

In EPLAN Harness proD Library, only one library can be open at a time. If you want to switch to another one, you can open it. Since the currently opened library will then be closed, you should save all your changes first. Otherwise you will be prompted to do so.

  1. Select the Library > Open library menu items.

The Open library dialog is opened.
  2. Select the desired library and click [OK].
  3. Or click [Add] to select an existing connection.

The folder with the defined connections is opened. Default location is <Drive>:\Users\<your user account>\Documents\<Harness proD folder>\Connections.
  4. Or click [Connect] to connect to an existing library and follow the steps in the wizard to connect either an XML library file (*.hxlib) or an MS SQL library.
  5. Or click [Remove] to remove the currently selected library from the dialog.

    Warning:

There is no prompt for confirmation!

  6. If a library is password-protected, you are prompted to enter the password. As an alternative you can activate the Remember password check box.

Open library using command prompt

It is also possible to open a library using the command prompt, also known as the "command line" or "cmd". The default installation folder of the EPLAN Harness proD library is <Drive>:\Program Files\EPLAN or <Drive>:\Program Files (x86)\EPLAN depending if you have a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows and EPLAN Harness proD. It is strongly recommended to use quotation marks in the command prompt.

  1. In the Command Prompt, enter the full path to the HLibrary.exe file and the full path to the library connection file (*.hxcn):
    "<Drive>:\<Program directory>\HLibrary.exe" "<Drive>:\Users\<your user account>\Documents\<Harness proD folder>\Connections\*.hxcn"
  2. Press [Enter].

The desired EPLAN Harness proD library is opened.

Multi-user operation of libraries

Working with the file system and Microsoft SQL libraries works on a first-come, first-served basis. First user A opens the library in read-write mode, second user, user B, opens the library in read-only mode. When user A closes the library, user B will gain full control over the library.

In the Platform master data SQL library, multiple users are able to work on the same library simultaneously.
