Global Properties

The Global properties tab contains the properties common to all the library item types. This includes information on categorization, status, attributes and also a section with information for the bill of materials.

Note:

Mandatory entries are marked with an asterisk (*).

Categorization

This section contains the basic information required for part recognition and sorting.

Property

Description

Part name

Mandatory property. Basic part identifier.

Category / Family

Category is a mandatory property. Allows to subdivide parts of the same type. Families, on the other hand, can group items of different types which are, e.g., used within one wire harness.

Note:

There are no default categories or families. A new category / family is determined in the current library when you create a new part and enter a category / family name. When creating another new part you can select from the already existing entries in the Category / Family drop-down list. An existing category can also be selected from the tree-like structure of categories: Click the button next to the Category drop-down list to open the Select category dialog.

ERP number

Part number of the external ERP system.

Part numbers

In the Part number column of this table you can assign catalog numbers to your parts. You can differentiate the parts by supply type (Internal, Cross-reference, Supplier and Manufacturer entries of the Type column) and you can specify a supplying company from the Company drop-down list.

Notes:

  • If the Internal type is set, the Part number column value is automatically displayed in the Internal no. property in the EPLAN Harness proD Studio property grid.
  • If the Supplier or Manufacturer type is set, multiple rows can be determined in the Company column of the Part numbers table. The values of the Company and Part number columns are available in the Supplier or Manufacturer drop-down list in the EPLAN Harness proD Studio property grid.
  • If the Cross-reference type is set, a reference between the supplier and the purchaser is generated. This cross-reference number is not included in the reports and tables in the nailboard.

Part status

For monitoring the life cycle of your parts you can determine a part status for each of them. You can choose one of the following statuses: "Work in progress", "Approved", "Released", "Under appraisal" (default setting), "Active", "Obsolete", and "Stipulated".

Note:

Parts with status "Obsolete" are "crossed out" in the library view, cannot be selected in the EPLAN Harness proD Studio part navigator, and their use in the workspace is checked in the tasks.

Manufacturing

This section contains information which is mainly used for the bill of materials.

This section is not available for 2D elements.
