Macro Collection for the Insert center

For an optimized workflow with macros the Insert center works with a macro collection, which stores all the currently set window and symbol macros in a type of Clipboard.

The following cases are automatically generated in the macro collection:

  • While opening a page or a layout space when the Insert center dialog is shown
  • When switching between directories for macros in the user-defined settings

In many cases the macro collection is updated automatically, for example when you create window or symbol macros, generate macros automatically in macro projects, generate macros from DXF / DWG files or from 3D files.

The macro collection can be manually updated at any time. It has to be updated manually to be generated after you have deleted, renamed the window or / symbol macros or made changes to one of the storage locations of these macros. The following command is available to this purpose: Tab Master data > Command group Macros > Macro collection.

Note:

If you have updated the macro collection for an Insert center that is already opened, please press the [F5] key before inserting further window and /or symbol macros in the Insert center. This is required to update the preview of the macros in the Insert center.

Tips:

  • For the optimum interaction with the Insert center and the macro collection we recommend observing the following steps after the installation of EPLAN:
    1. First install all the required EPLAN add-ons.
    2. Update the master data.
    3. Open a project page or a layout space, the macro collection is automatically generated.
  • Exceptions can be defined for window macro and / or symbol macro directories which are not to be included in the macro collection. This applies in particular to macro directories for the software products EPLAN Cogineer and EPLAN Engineering Configuration (EEC). The macros included in this are not intended for manual insertion. To exclude these macro directories, the Exceptions dialog is available in the company settings (Command path: File > Settings > Company > Macro collection). Here you enter the macro directories to be excluded from the generation of the macro collection. These macro directories are then not displayed as folders in the Insert center.
