Roles and permissions
With the help of the concept of roles and rights of the EPLAN Cloud, you define what users are allowed to do in the products and projects and what they are not allowed to do. By assigning roles, you influence the scope of the product's functions. By assigning permissions, however, you decide the extent to which a user is allowed to work on individual projects.
Roles in the EPLAN Cloud
In the user management, you assign roles to users for the individual products, see EPLAN Cloud roles and rights.
There are four roles in eVIEW and eMANAGE, which correlate with certain rights and restrictions. The following roles are available to you (beginning with the role with the most rights):
- Admin
- Designer
- User
- Guest
Overview of the roles
Area | Function | Admin | Designer | User | Guest |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Administration | Access to all projects within the organization | x | - | - | - |

Add, edit and delete redlinings | x | x | x | x | |
Greenlinings | Open overview of the greenlinings | x | x | x | x** |
Add, edit and delete greenlinings | x | x | x | x |
* The extent to which you can edit the project also depends on the assigned permission for the shared project.
** You can only see your own redlinings and greenlinings in the overview, not those of other users.
Permissions for projects
When sharing projects, you can assign permissions for projects to other users . You can select between the following types of permission:
- Edit
- Limited (Edit)
- View
Refer to the table to see which permissions you can assign to which role.
Permissions | Designer | User | Guest |
---|---|---|---|
Edit | x | - | - |
Limited (Edit) | x | x | - |
View | x | x | x |
For example, it is not possible to assign the permission "Edit" to a user who has the role "Guest", because the permission does not match the rights of the role. Inversely, however, you can restrict a designer's involvement in a project and assign that person only the permission "View".
Note
In the product, all three types of permissions are proposed to you regardless of the role of the other user. However, the product recognizes whether the respective permission for the role applies or not. If not, the next possible permission is used.
