Activating a Single License - without Internet connection

The help for the licensing functions supports you as a user with the activation, return and transfer of the Single License of an Eplan product.

Important!

Continuing to use an activated license

An activated license is coupled to the software and hardware information of your computer. If you want to carry out modifications to your computer or want to activate the license on a different computer, you must always first return the license!

You can find out when this is in particular necessary in the License: Basics topic.

Preconditions:

  • The computer on which activation of the license is being performed does not have an Internet connection.
  • The second computer has an Internet connection.
  • USB stick is available.
  • The Eplan product is installed and is started for the first time. The dialog for licensing appears.
  • Eplan Rehost is installed in the same version on both computers. Information on this topic is available in Eplan Rehost
  • You have an Entitlement ID. For further information please refer to the License: Basics topic.

Make sure to perform all steps in the following order:

Closed1. Creating an Activation Request

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start Eplan Rehost.

    2. The Eplan Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Activation tab.

    3. The Manual activation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 1: Create Activation Request option.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter the Entitlement ID in the field Entitlement ID .
  6. Click the Create Activation Request button.

    7. The Save activation request file dialog is opened.

  7. Save the Activation Request file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  8. Click Close.

Closed2. Creating a licensing file

Perform the following steps at a computer with Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start Eplan Rehost.

    2. The Eplan Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Activation tab.

    3. The Manual activation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 2: Activate (online) option.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Connect the USB stick with the Activation Request file to this computer.
  6. Click the button.

    7. The Open Activation Request file dialog is opened.

  7. Select the Activation Request file on the USB stick.
  8. Click Open.

    9. The file path is displayed in the Activation Request file field.

  9. Click Activate.

    10. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    ClosedMessage - A new Entitlement ID was found for your license.

    If you have used an outdated Entitlement ID, the Activate license dialog is displayed informing you that a new Entitlement ID is available.

    Example

    You have a new Entitlement ID for the new Eplan Electric P8 version.

    • Click Yes:

      • The new Entitlement ID is activated.

      The outdated Entitlement ID is deactivated.

      After the activation you can use the new Eplan Electric P8 version.

    • Click No:

      • The outdated Entitlement ID is activated.

    The Activate license dialog opens and shows the content of the license.

  1. Check whether the license content is complete.
  2. Click Activate.

    3. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The Save license file dialog is opened.

  3. Save the Iservrc_* licensing file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  4. Click Close.

Closed3a. Performing licensing during initial installation

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Start the Eplan product by double-clicking the program icon.

    2. The Activate license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Load activated licenses option.
  3. Click OK.

    4. The Select license file dialog is opened.

  4. Connect the USB stick with the Iservrc_* file to this computer.
  5. Select the Iservrc_* file on the USB stick.
  6. Click Open.

    7. The Load activated licenses dialog opens and shows the license content.

  1. Check whether the license content is complete.
  2. Click Load.

    3. The Import license dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  3. Click Close.
  4. The license has been activated successfully.
  5. The Eplan product starts.

Closed3b. Performing licensing for an existing installation

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Start the Eplan product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

    2. The Select license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the following menu items: Single License > Load activated licenses...

    3. The Select license file dialog is opened.

  3. Connect the USB stick with the Iservrc_* file to this computer.
  4. Select the Iservrc_* file on the USB stick.
  5. Click Open.

    6. The Load activated licenses dialog opens and shows the license content.

  6. Click Load.

    7. The Import license dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  1. Check whether the license content is complete.
  2. Click Close.
  3. Click OK.
  4. The license has been activated successfully.
  5. The Eplan product starts.
