Transferring a Concurrent License

The help for the licensing functions supports you as the administrator with the activation, return and transfer of the Concurrent License for the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator).

If you want to use the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator) on a new computer, you must perform a transfer of the license. The transfer of a license consists of returning the license on the old computer and activating the same license on the new computer.

Make sure to perform all steps in the following order:

1. Returning a Concurrent License

Preconditions:

  • The computer on which activation of the license is being performed has an Internet connection!
  • Eplan Rehost is installed in the same version on both computers. Information on this topic is available in Eplan Rehost
  • You have an Entitlement ID. For further information please refer to the License: Basics topic.

  • The Eplan License Manager is functional.

  • No licenses are borrowed from the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator).

Return

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start Eplan Rehost.

    2. The Eplan Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Complete Revoke (online) option.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter the Entitlement ID in the field Entitlement ID .
  6. Click the Complete Revoke button.

    7. The return starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The return is confirmed.

  7. Click Close.
  8. The license has been returned successfully.

ClosedReturning a Concurrent License - without Internet connection

Preconditions:

  • The computer on which activation of the license is being performed does not have an Internet connection.
  • The second computer has an Internet connection.
  • USB stick is available.
  • Eplan Rehost is installed in the same version on both computers. Information on this topic is available in Eplan Rehost
  • You have an Entitlement ID. For further information please refer to the License: Basics topic.

  • The Eplan License Manager is functional.

  • No licenses are borrowed from the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator).

Closed1. Creating a return request (Revocation Request)

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start Eplan Rehost.

    2. The Eplan Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 1: Create Revocation Request option under Manual Revoke.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter the Entitlement ID in the field Entitlement ID .
  6. Click the Create Revocation Request button.

    7. The Save revocation request file dialog is opened.

  7. Save the Revocation Request file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  8. Click Close.

Closed2. Creating an acceptance file (Permission Ticket)

Perform the following steps at a computer with Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start Eplan Rehost.

    2. The Eplan Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 2: Download Permission Tickets (online) option under Manual Revoke.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Connect the USB stick with the Revocation Request file to this computer.
  6. Click the button and select the Revocation Request file on the USB stick.
  7. Click Open.

    8. The file path is displayed in the Revocation Request file field.

  8. Click the Download Permission Tickets button.

    9. The download starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

  9. Save the Permission Ticket file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  10. Click Close.

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start Eplan Rehost.

    2. The Eplan Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

  3. Select the Step 3: Revoke option under Manual Revoke.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Connect the USB stick with the Permission Ticket file to this computer.
  6. Click the button and select the Permission Ticket file on the USB stick.
  7. Click Open.

    8. The file path is displayed in the Permission Tickets file field.

  8. Click Revoke.

    9. The return starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The Save Revocation Ticket file dialog is opened.

  9. Save the RevocationTickets_* file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  10. Click Close.

Closed4. Confirming a return (Upload Revocation Tickets)

Perform the following steps at a computer with Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start Eplan Rehost.

    2. The Eplan Rehost dialog is opened.

  2. Select the Revocation tab.

    3. The Revocation of a license dialog is opened.

  3. Select the Step 4: Upload Revocation Tickets (online) option under Manual Revoke.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Connect the USB stick with the Revocation Ticket file to this computer.
  6. Click the button and select the Revocation Ticket file on the USB stick.
  7. Click Open.

    8. The file path is displayed in the Revocation file field.

  8. Click the Upload Revocation Tickets button.

    9. The upload starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The return is confirmed.

  9. Click Close.
  10. The license has been returned successfully

2. Activating a Concurrent License

Preconditions:

  • The computer on which activation of the license is being performed has an Internet connection!
  • Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator) is installed or is being installed. At the end of the installation a dialog for licensing is displayed.
  • You have an Entitlement ID. For further information please refer to the License: Basics topic.

Activating a Concurrent License

  1. If the dialog for licensing is not displayed, start the ELM Configurator by double-clicking the program icon.

    2. The License Manager - Configurator dialog is opened.

    If required, select a dialog language. It is only applied after a restart.

  2. Select the Activate tab.
  3. Enter the Entitlement ID in the Entitlement ID field.
  4. Click the Activate online button.

    5. The Activate license dialog opens and shows the license content.

    ClosedMessage - A new Entitlement ID was found for your license.

    If you have used an outdated Entitlement ID, the Activate license dialog is displayed informing you that a new Entitlement ID is available.

    Example

    You have a new Entitlement ID for the new Eplan Electric P8 version.

    • Click Yes:

      • The new Entitlement ID is activated.

      The outdated Entitlement ID is deactivated.

      After the activation you can use the new Eplan Electric P8 version.

    • Click No:

      • The outdated Entitlement ID is activated.

  1. Check whether the license content is complete.
  2. Click Activate.

    3. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The License Manager - Configurator dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  3. Click Close.
  1. Select the Bundles tab.
  2. Check whether the bundles already defined match the new licenses.
  3. Click Update service.

    4. If changes were made, the License Manager - Configurator dialog is opened.

    1. Click Yes to apply the changes.

      2. The License Manager - Configurator dialog opens and confirms the application.

    2. Click Close.
  4. Click OK.
  5. The license has been activated successfully.

ClosedActivating a Concurrent License - without Internet connection

Preconditions:

  5. Connect the USB stick with the Activation Request file to this computer.
  6. Click the button.

    7. The Open Activation Request file dialog is opened.

  7. Select the Activation Request file on the USB stick.
  8. Click Open.

    9. The file path is displayed in the Activation Request file field.

  9. Click Activate.

    10. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    ClosedMessage - A new Entitlement ID was found for your license.

    If you have used an outdated Entitlement ID, the Activate license dialog is displayed informing you that a new Entitlement ID is available.

    Example

    You have a new Entitlement ID for the new Eplan Electric P8 version.

    • Click Yes:

      • The new Entitlement ID is activated.

      The outdated Entitlement ID is deactivated.

      After the activation you can use the new Eplan Electric P8 version.

    • Click No:

      • The outdated Entitlement ID is activated.

    The Activate license dialog opens and shows the content of the license.

  1. Check whether the license content is complete.
  2. Click Activate.

    3. The activation starts; a scroll bar is displayed.

    The Save license file dialog is opened.

  3. Save the Iservrc_* licensing file on a USB stick. Click Save.
  4. Click Close.

Perform the following steps at the computer without Internet connection:

  1. Double-click the program icon on the desktop to start ELM Configurator.

    2. The License Manager - Configurator dialog is opened.

  2. Click the Load activated licenses button.

    3. The Select license file dialog is opened.

  3. Connect the USB stick with the Iservrc_* file to this computer.
  4. Select the Iservrc_* file on the USB stick.
  5. Click Open.

    6. The Load activated licenses dialog opens and shows the license content.

  6. Check whether the license content is complete.
  7. Click Load.

    8. The License Manager - Configurator dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  1. Click Close.
  2. Click Update service.

    3. If changes were made, the License Manager - Configurator dialog is opened.

    1. Click Yes to apply the changes.

      2. The License Manager - Configurator dialog opens and confirms the application.

    2. Click Close.
  3. Click OK.
  4. The license has been activated successfully.
