Borrowing a license from the Eplan License Manager - with network connection

Licenses can only be borrowed and used in combination with the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator).

Preconditions:

The borrowed license can be borrowed at maximum for a period specified by the Eplan License Manager (ELM Configurator). After this period has expired, the Eplan product can only be used again after a further licensing has been performed. Within this period, the Eplan product can also be used without connection to the Eplan License Manager.

The borrowing period can be extended. Extending the borrowing period

ClosedInitial installation
  1. Start the Eplan product by double-clicking the program icon.

    2. The Activate license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the From License Manager (online) option under Borrow license.
  3. Click OK.

    4. The Borrow license dialog is opened.

  4. In the License Manager field, enter the name and port number of the License Manager, separated by a colon.

    5. Example: elmeplan:1234

ClosedAlternative procedure
  1. Click the icon.
  2. Select the version of the Eplan License Manager.
  3. Please fill in the required fields.
  4. Click OK.
Follow the further steps.
  1. Select the License Manager, the Serial number and the duration of the borrowing period.

    2. Bundles to be borrowed are listed in the field.

  2. Make a selection.
  3. Click Borrow.

    4. The Borrow license dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  4. Click Close.

    5. The Check license dialog is opened and informs you about the borrowing period.

  5. The Eplan product can now be used.
  6. The Eplan product starts.

ClosedWith existing installation

An error message can occur during the first connection to the new License Manager. End the connection to the License Manager once by returning the borrowed license or by disconnecting the connection. Then you borrow the license again or reconnect the product with the License Manager.

  1. Start the Eplan product while holding down the Shift key and double-click the program icon.

    2. The Select license dialog is opened.

  2. Select the following menu items: Concurrent License > Borrow license > From License Manager (online).

    3. The Borrow license dialog is opened.

  3. In the License Manager field, enter the name and port number of the License Manager, separated by a colon.

    4. Example: elmeplan:1234

  1. Click the icon.
  2. Select the version of the Eplan License Manager.
  3. Please fill in the required fields.
  4. Click OK.
Follow the further steps.
  1. Select the License Manager, the Serial number and the duration of the borrowing period.

    2. Bundles to be borrowed are listed in the field.

  2. Make a selection.
  3. Click Borrow.

    4. The Borrow license dialog opens and confirms the activation.

  4. Click Close.

    5. The Check license dialog is opened and informs you about the borrowing period.

  5. The Eplan product can now be used.
  6. The Eplan product starts.
