Dialog Wiring manager

In this dialog you manage the routing connections that are contained in the selection (for example in the layout space navigator, in the 3D mounting layout navigator, in the connections navigator). Only those connections are displayed whose function definitions are taken into consideration during routing and whose source and target are located as part placements in the same layout space.
During a selection in the layout space navigator or in the 3D mounting layout navigator the name of the first object that is contained in the selection is displayed in the title bar of the dialog. If the selection does not contain any connections that can be displayed in the dialog, the text "No valid selection" is displayed.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Toolbar:

The number of connections listed in the table is displayed in the toolbar above the table. In addition several buttons are available here with which you can filter the displayed connections according to the routing- and wiring-relevant status. The quantity of the respective connections is displayed next to each button.

You can specify the display of the data by means of the following buttons:

Button

Meaning

(Unrouted connections)

Displays the unrouted connections.

(Routed connections)

Displays the routed connections.

(Exported connections) Displays the exported connections.
(Non-routable connections) Displays the non-routable connections.
(Protected connections) Displays the protected connections.
(Non-exportable connections) Displays the non-exportable connections.
(Update) Updates the display of the connections in the table. In the process the selection (for example in the layout space navigator) is evaluated again.
When updating with the [F5] key, only the data of the connections already displayed in the dialog is updated.
An update is, for example, required if the underlying connection data has changed or if connections have been routed or deleted.

Table:

The properties of the connection, such as the function definition, source and target of the connection and specific connection properties, are displayed in a row in the table. If required, further columns, for example with information about the routing track or the potential type, can be displayed via the Configure representation popup menu item. The connection data is displayed in accordance with the Properties (global) processing mode, meaning that the properties of the associated 2D connection and 3D connection are combined in one row. The properties cannot be changed in the table. If you have selected a row or a cell in the table, you can double-click to open the property dialog of the connection in the Properties (global) processing mode.

The following columns, among others, can be displayed in the table:

  • Function definition: Shows the function definition of the connection.
  • Layout space: Displays the layout space in which the connection is located.
  • Source: Displays the DT of the device that is the source of the connection.
  • Target: Displays the DT of the device that is the target of the connection.
  • Connection color / number: Displays the color code, color name, or color number of the connection.
  • Connection designation: Displays the connection designation of the connection.
  • Connection: Cross-section / diameter with unit: Displays the cross-section or diameter of the connection with information about the unit.
  • Connection: Length with unit: Displays the length of the connection with information about the unit.
  • Check run: Status: If messages occurred during routing or exporting, the status of the first message that occurred for the connection is displayed here.
  • Check run: Number: If messages occurred during routing or exporting, the check run number of the first message that occurred for the connection is displayed here.
  • Check run: Message text: If messages occurred during routing or exporting, the message text of the first message occurring for the connection is displayed here.
  • Status: Displays the status of the connection. Possible values are "Not routed", "Routed", "Non-routable", "Protected", "Exported", and "Non-exportable".

Note:

The Source and Target columns allow editing of the devices connected to the connection and therefore have a deviating behavior. If you have selected a cell in one of these columns, menu items are displayed in the popup menu with which you can jump to the source or target of the connection. In addition you open the property dialog of the respective device in the Properties (global) processing mode with a double-click.

Popup menu:

The popup menu provides - depending on the field type (e.g. date, integer, multilingual) - the following menu items that are, depending on the situation, available for influencing the table or editing the values in the fields. You can find an overview of these popup menu items in the section Popup menu items.

In addition, the following dialog-specific popup menu items are available:

Menu item

Meaning

Go to (2D, connection)

Displays the selected 2D connection in the graphical editor.

Go to (3D, connection)

Displays the selected 3D connection in the layout space.

Go to (2D, source)

Only available if a cell is selected in the Source column. Displays the device that is the source of the selected connection in the graphical editor.

Go to (3D, source)

Only available if a cell is selected in the Source column. Displays the part placement, which is the source of the selected connection, in the layout space.

Go to (2D, target)

Only available if a cell is selected in the Target column. Displays the device that is the target of the selected connection in the graphical editor.

Go to (3D, target)

Only available if a cell is selected in the Target column. Displays the part placement, which is the target of the selected connection, in the layout space.
Route Routes the marked connections. In the process routing connections are generated between the 3D part placements.
Free routing The marked connections are routed freely in the room outside the routing path network.
Delete route Deletes the selected 3D connections. The status of the connection in the dialog is updated in the process and can assume the values "Not routed" or "Non-routable". If a connection is no longer available, the row is deleted.
