Dialog "Settings: STEP export" / Dialog "Settings: VRML export" / Dialog "Settings: IFC export" / Dialog "Settings: JT export"
- File > Settings > User > Interfaces > STEP export, VRML export, IFC export or JT export
- File > Export > Command group Project data > Layout space > STEP, VRML, IFC or JT. Click [...] next to the Scheme field.
In this dialog you define the settings for exporting STEP, VRML, IFC or JT files and save them as a scheme. The schemes for the export of STEP, VRML, IFC or JT files are saved user-specifically. You can copy and edit an existing scheme or create a new scheme.
Overview of the main dialog elements:
Select the scheme that you wish to use or edit from the drop-down list. You can also use the adjacent toolbar for this purpose.
Enter the storage location here. You can specify any drive and subdirectory as the target for the export. Click
to open the Select folder dialog and then navigate to the desired directory, or create a new one.
You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.
When it comes to the file name settings, you have the following options:
- From consecutive number
- From layout space name
- From properties
In the properties, you can access layout space properties, project properties, and separators.
Generate subdirectories: (IFC)
In this drop-down list you specify the default method for generating subdirectories during the IFC export:
- None: If you select this option, no subdirectories are generated during the export.
- From properties: If you select this option, the substructure name is compiled from the layout space and project properties as well as freely-definable separators or directory separators. Use the [...] button to open the Format: Property dialog to configure the directory name. Here you can use the "directory separator" format element, for example, to generate a directory structure with multiple subdirectories arranged one below the other.
This drop-down list displays all versions of the IFC specification supported by Eplan Pro Panel.
Note:
You should not change the IFC version preset in a scheme since the IFC objects and IFC properties already defined in the assignment tables do not adapt automatically to the changed IFC version. Instead, select a different scheme, or create a new scheme with the desired IFC version and new properties.
Use this slide control to specify the degree of detailing of a 3D model during the IFC export. Three levels (1 to 3) are available with which you can influence the detail depth of the 3D model depending on the planning phase.
The following data are exported:
- 1: For everything visible from the outside, a single enveloping cuboid is exported.
- 2: All displayed components that are visible from the outside are each exported with an enveloping cuboid.
- 3: All displayed components that are visible from the outside are exported in detail.
Note:
Please note that the size of the export file increases as the degree of detailing increases.
The following data are generally not exported:
- Routing connections (single conductor, cable, hose line, piping)
- Cut-outs (drill hole, threaded hole, rectangle, slotted hole, hexagon, octagon, user-defined outline)
- Mounting aids (mounting surface, mounting point, mounting grid, mounting line, base point)
- Locked areas (restricted cut-out area, restricted placing area)
- Routing aids (routing path, curve, routing range, wiring cut-out)
- Auxiliary lines
- Textures
In the assignment table on this tab you specify which objects and items are to be exported from a layout space and assign IFC objects suitable for the IFC version of the scheme. To this purpose, the following columns are available in the table:
- Eplan filter: Here you use the appropriate filters to specify which objects and items are to be exported from a layout space. To this purpose, you can, for example, select specific function definitions, functions or parts as a filter criterion in a filter. All enclosures of a layout space are exported with the "Function definition" filter criterion and the "Enclosure" value.
- IFC object: Here you assign an IFC object to each filter in accordance with the IFC version of the scheme.
Tab IFC properties
In the assignment table on this tab you specify which Eplan properties are to be exported for an IFC object to be exported and assign the corresponding IFC properties. To this purpose, the following columns are available in the table:
- IFC object: The IFC object to be exported is displayed here.
- Eplan property: Here you specify one Eplan property per row that is to be exported for the IFC object.
- IFC property set: Here you select an IFC property set that you want to use.
- IFC property: Here you select an IFC property that you would like to assign to the respective Eplan property from the selected IFC property set.
- Name of the customer-specific IFC property set
- Name of customer-specific IFC property
- Unit for the property (for example m for meter) or an IFC-value type
Note:
You can import customer-specific IFC property sets to add them to the scheme. To do this, click
(Import) in the toolbar to import an Excel or CSV file.
The import file must contain three columns with the following information:
The BIM Manager usually provides the information to you.
The following options are available for format versions:
- STEP AP 203
- STEP AP 214, CD version
- STEP AP 214, DIS version
- STEP AP 214, IS version
Only external representation of the enclosure: (STEP and JT)
If this check box is activated (default setting), an enclosure is exported with all items that can be seen from the outside when the enclosure is closed. This also applies to a freely placed mounting panel that is not part of an enclosure.
All part placements are exported with the items arranged below that in the hierarchy are one step below the enclosure or the mounting panel.
Separate export per enclosure: (STEP and JT)
If this check box is activated (default setting), a separate STEP or JT file is generated for each enclosure and for each detached mounting panel. If you want to use the From layout space name setting to generate the file name, the name of the enclosure is added to the file name.
Export auxiliary elements: (STEP and JT)
If this check box is not activated (default setting), the following auxiliary elements are not exported:
- Routing paths
- Routing ranges
- Wiring cut-outs
- Restricted cut-out areas
- Restricted placing areas
- Cut-outs.
Export routing connections: (STEP)
If this check box is activated, the routing connections existing in the layout space are also exported in STEP format. After the import of the resulting STEP file into an external CAD program, the routing connections can be displayed there.
Group box Simplified representation (STEP)
In this group box you specify whether items - similar to the representation in the layout space - will be exported in a simplified manner:
- Terminal strips (block definition): If this check box is activated (default setting), the terminal strips will be exported as a simplified block.
- 3D macros: If this check box is activated (default setting), the graphical macros, rails, and wire ducts are simplified into a cuboid.
