Dialog Settings: Directories

The default settings for the directories used for master data selection and editing, and the paths to the required databases and files are defined or revised in this dialog. This information is used by certain program elements and functions when particular data is required. The settings are user dependent in order for you to manage and organize your own pool of master data.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Scheme:

Select the scheme that you wish to use or edit from the drop-down list. You can also use the adjacent toolbar for this purpose.

If you are signed in to the Eplan Cloud, you can select both local master data schemes and Eplan Cloud master data schemes here. Eplan Cloud master data schemes are identified with the supplement "(Eplan Cloud)" for differentiation. If you have selected a local master data scheme, you can upload the master data to the Eplan Cloud by using the button (Upload master data to the Eplan Cloud).

Group box projects, parts and translation

In the Projects, Parts and Translation input fields, you specify the drive and directory in which Eplan should manage your projects, parts data, and translation data by default. Click to open the dialog for choosing a directory and then navigate to the desired directory, or create a new one. The default setting after installing Eplan is <Drive_EPLAN>:\<Program directory>\Projects\<Company code>.

Note:

When exchanging master data with the Eplan Cloud, projects, parts, and translations that are included in a scheme are not taken into account when uploading and downloading.

Group box master data

You specify the drive and directory in which Eplan is to manage your master data such as templates, symbols, forms, etc. by default in the Templates, Symbols, Forms, etc. input fields. Click to open the dialog for choosing a directory and then navigate to the desired directory, or create a new one.

If you want to upload master data to the Eplan Cloud, you have to select a local master data scheme. Such a local master data scheme may only contain directories that are located in the default directory for master data $(EPLAN_DATA). The directories must not contain UNC paths, meaning that they must not be located on a network drive.

For all input fields where you can define a directory, the following applies:
You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.
Please note that less path variables are offered at this point because, after all, you define the values of the path variables MD_PROJECTS, MD_MACROS, etc. in the Settings: Directories dialog!
You can return to the directories set by default here in all the dialogs where you select this type of data (for example in the dialog Open project). To do so, click the Eplan icon and the directory listed below it in the left-hand navigation area.
