In the past, if you wanted to assign a different layer to an object (for example a display property of a device or a text), the selection took place in a very long drop-down list and was therefore confusing. To simplify this, the selection of a layer is now carried out by means of a selection dialog.
Benefit:
The new Layer selection dialog makes it easier and faster to select a different layer. In addition, the properties of the selectable layers are directly visible. This results in more informed decision-making, reduces sources of errors and increases the efficiency in the entire engineering process.
You open the new Layer selection dialog by clicking the [...] button in the Assignment column of the property dialog of the object in the Format tab or in the Display tab for the Layer property.
The dialog is similar to the layer management - with a hierarchical tree of the layers on the left-hand side and a table with the properties of the layers on the right-hand side. The displayed properties of the layers can, however, not be changed here. This is only possible in the layer management.
In addition, a search field is available here above the tree. During the search the layer names and the layer descriptions are searched.
All layers selected in the tree are displayed in the table. The columns contained in the table can be set via the Configure representation popup menu item. The configuration of the representation for the table columns corresponds to the configuration in the Layer management - <Project name> dialog and is used identically in both dialogs. If you change the configuration here, this also affects the display in the layer management and vice versa.
The current layer of the object is preset when the layer selection is opened. To assign a different layer to the object, select the desired layer in the table and click [OK].
