Dialog Settings: P&I diagram

In this dialog you can carry out settings for the P&I diagram.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Color components and pipings in P&I diagram group box

In the P&I diagram, you can color containers, PCT loops, pipings, etc. that are linked with segments in the pre-planning. This way you can make structures from the pre-planning that are placed in the P&I diagram visible.

You specify the desired color in the pre-planning navigator in the property dialog of a segment by means of the Color for P&I diagram property or by means of the Layer for color and visibility property.

With assigned segment:

If this check box is activated, all placed components and pipings, whose link is located in the pre-planning navigator below a segment with selected color are colored with this color in the P&I diagram. The designation and description of such a segment is displayed in this color in the pre-planning navigator.

If the check box is deactivated, no colors are displayed for both the P&I diagram for objects with linked segments as well as the segments in the pre-planning navigator.

In pipings (without assigned segment):

This check box is only available if the setting With assigned segment has been activated.

If this check box is activated, the components that belong to the piping but are not linked with a segment in the pre-planning are colored additionally for colored pipings.

Tip:

If you use the Layer for color and visibility property to color components and pipings with linked segments in the P&I diagram, you additionally have the possibility to Hide the components at a piping via the layer setting "Visible".

Display gaps for connection junctions:

If this check box is selected, gaps for connection junctions are automatically displayed on P&I diagram pages. The representation of piping junctions with interrupted lines corresponds to the recommendations of EN ISO 10628-1:2015-04.

If pipings of the same line width that are not connected with each other cross, the vertical piping is interrupted.
If pipings of different line widths that are not connected with each other cross, the thinner piping is interrupted.

If the check box is deactivated, no gaps are displayed for connection junctions. To also display connection junctions with gaps in accordance with the EN ISO 10628-1:2015-04 standard in this case, you have to insert special symbols for connection junctions with gaps. To this purpose, the SPECIAL symbol library, for example, contains the connection symbols LBR, LBRL and LBRP.

Piping-oriented connection logic:

If this check box is activated, the connections of all pipings in the P&I diagram are automatically arranged in one direction during the connection update. This ensures a uniform direction of the piping even during the processing of the P&I diagram. This way you do not have to subsequently arrange the connections by means of the Edit piping route command.

Activate this check box so that you can carry out the settings for automatically displayed direction arrows and an automatic alignment of symbols during placement on the piping in accordance with the piping direction.

If the check box is deactivated, the connections are sorted by the device tags by default. This can result in contradictory flow directions for the pipings. When inserting symbols on a piping, an automatic alignment in accordance with the piping direction is also not possible. The subsequent settings are then grayed out.
A deactivation of the check box only makes sense for old projects.

Note:

After you have made a setting here, you must subsequently generate the connections again. This can be done via the subsequent prompt. However, you can also update the connections at a later time.

Direction arrows in P&I diagram group box

If the Piping-oriented connection logic setting is activated, you can configure settings for the automatic display of direction arrows in this group box.

Automatically display direction arrows:

If this check box is activated, direction arrows are automatically displayed at the beginning and/or end of autoconnecting lines in the P&I diagram. Direction arrows are furthermore displayed wherever the piping is forwarded in the diagram (for example before or after angles, junctions, connection splicers, etc.).

If the check box is deactivated, direction arrows are not automatically displayed in the P&I diagram.

Number / name:

This field displays the name of the current symbol. Click [...] to open the Symbol selection dialog and to select, if required, a different symbol.

Placement of direction arrows:

Use this drop-down list to specify whether the direction arrows are displayed at the beginning and/or end of an autoconnecting line.

Minimum distance between direction arrows:

Here, you enter the desired minimum distance between two consecutive automatic direction arrows on an autoconnecting line. If the distance is lower than the minimum distance, the direction arrows at angles or junctions are preferably no longer displayed. The direction arrows at the beginning or end of an autoconnecting line are preferably retained. Whether the values are entered here in "mm" or "In" depends on the Displayed unit of length user setting.

Tips:

Even if automatic display is activated for the direction arrows, you can nevertheless insert manual direction arrows and thus overwrite the automatic direction arrows. If a manual direction arrow is placed on an autoconnecting line, an automatic direction arrow is no longer displayed.
To prevent the display of a direction arrow on an autoconnecting line, you can place the AR3 symbol without symbol graphic on this line.
