Dialog Layout space - <Project name>

Layout spaces with placed devices are displayed in a logical structure in this dialog.

Scope and content of tree and list view of the devices are different in the different dialogs which use these representations. This is also true for scope and content of the popup menus:

  • Dialog 3D object selection
  • Dialog Show / hide 3D objects
  • Dialog Select interpretation template (project-specific)

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Filter:

This drop-down list displays all the available filters. A selected filter is automatically activated and is applied to both the tree and the list view. The "- Not activated -" entry deactivates the filter and causes an unfiltered display of the data. Click [...] to open the Filter dialog. Here you can create, edit, delete, copy, export, import, and manage filters.

The popup menu of the Filter drop-down list contains the following entries:

  • Deactivate: This popup menu item is available if a filter has been set: Resets the filter setting to the "- Not activated -" entry.
  • Activate <filter name>: This popup menu item is available if the filter setting is "- Not activated -": Reactivates the last active filter.

This allows you to toggle rapidly between the unfiltered representation and a representation filtered in accordance with your requirements.

Value: <Property>:

Use this field, via Quick input, to adjust quickly the value of a filter criterion for a defined and activated filter.

Tree:

Shows all devices existing in the layout spaces of the opened project. The layout spaces form the top hierarchical level. Below a layout space, the devices contained within are hierarchically grouped: Starting from the mounting panel or the superior enclosure, all devices are displayed beneath the item on which they are placed.

The default is not to display the DT, but the item designation, including the grouping sign. If you have placed a mounting panel, the grouping sign "MP<Mounting panel number>" is inherited by all the items arranged beneath it and prefixes their designation text. This ensures that it is always clear which part placement belongs to which mounting panel or enclosure in the navigator tree.

In the tree view, different icons illustrate the types of component and their status:

List:

Shows all devices existing in the layout spaces of the opened project. The view and sorting of the devices depends on the column configuration selected in the Configure representation dialog.

Popup menu:

The popup menu provides - depending on the field type (e.g. date, integer, multilingual) - the following menu items that are, depending on the situation, available for influencing the table or editing the values in the fields. You can find an overview of these popup menu items in the section Popup menu items.

In addition, the following dialog-specific popup menu items are available:

Menu item

Meaning

New

Opens the Properties (components): Layout space dialog, making it possible to insert a new layout space, enter a designation for it and assign predefined properties to it.

Opens the selected layout space in a separate window of the graphical 3D display area.

Delete

Removes the selected layout space from the project, or deletes a placed device and all the devices arranged beneath it, from the navigator.

Note:

Positioned items are not always completely removed when the layout space is deleted. A device that has also been placed at other project locations (e.g. a mounting panel in the schematic), is not completely deleted, only the placement in the 3D mounting layout is deleted. The item remains and can be placed again. An item that has only been placed in the layout space (e.g. in a mounting rail), is completely removed once the layout space is deleted.

Go to (cross-referenced)

Enters cross-referenced functions into the Go to list and opens it.

Go to (all representation types)

Enters all of the representation types of a function (e.g., on a schematic page, an overview page, and / or a report page) into the Go to list and opens it.

Go to (graphic)

Shows the selected object in the graphical editor. If an item is now called for placement, a suitable area is automatically selected for it, if the cursor rests on it for 1 second without moving. This is recognizable from the change in color and the appearance of 3D snap points.

Show

Defines which of the components in the layout space are to be displayed:

  • Selection: Displays all the items below the selected node.
  • All: Displays all the components in the layout space.
  • Only mounting panels
  • Only doors.

Hide

Hides the entire contents of the layout space or selected component. To show this specific hidden structure again, use the Show > Selection popup menu items.

Simplified representation

Simplified representation for terminal strips and 3D macros.

List with preselection (tree only)

Reduces the number of elements displayed in order to allow for a faster orientation in the list view. If this option is activated, the list view is called up with an automatic filter (preselection) containing the elements that are currently selected.

Select in tree (list only)

Displays the marked object in the Tree tab.

Opens the Properties (global): <...> dialog. Allows editing the properties of the main function and all their displays.

Popup menu (dialog 3D object selection):

This popup menu is available in the tree view of the 3D object selection dialog which is called up from the Model view, 2D drilling view, and Unfold dialogs.

Menu item

Meaning

Configure representation

Opens the Configure representation dialog, where you define which properties are to be displayed in the list and tree view.

Note:

The same configuration is used for the three dialogs Layout space - <Project name>, 3D object selection, and Show / hide 3D objects. If you change the configuration of tree or list view for one of these dialogs, the change affects the others, too.

Popup menu (dialog Show / hide 3D objects):

This popup menu is available in the tree view of the Show / hide 3D objects dialog which is called up from the Model view dialog.

Menu item
