In this dialog, you can specify certain user settings for your work with part selection and parts management.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Part selection with scheme selection:

If you select this check box, a new selection dialog will open whenever you start a part selection; select a scheme from a drop-down list and click [...] to view / edit the settings. This will allow you to fill the device list with data from different data sources, for example.
If the check box is not selected (default setting), there is no further selection.

Scheme:

Select the scheme that you wish to use or edit from the drop-down list. You can also use the adjacent toolbar for this purpose.

Eplan:

Select this option here in order to then interactively select a database file in the Eplan format (*.alk) via .

You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.

Or click (New) in order to generate a new database in the subsequent dialog.

The current database is then displayed in the title bar of the Parts management dialog.

Include all languages in search

Only available as a database source for the options Eplan and Eplan Cloud. If this check box is selected, the search takes place in all languages. This way you can also search for parts based on translated texts that are not displayed in the current user interface language.

If the check box is deactivated, the search is only carried out in the current user interface language.

Eplan Cloud:

Select this option if you want to use a database from the Eplan Cloud as a Database Source for the parts management.

When an Eplan Cloud database is selected for the first time, the data is downloaded, and a local copy of the database is created. This allows the data to be synchronized. This way the parts data can be changed both locally and in the Eplan Cloud.

• The [...] button opens the Select Eplan Cloud database dialog. You can select one of the existing Eplan Cloud databases there. The list of database names can be searched and filtered by means of the Find field.
• The button (Upload master data to the Eplan Cloud) opens the Upload local parts database to the Eplan Cloud dialog. There you can upload a local parts database to the Eplan Cloud. You can also create a new Eplan Cloud database.
• The (New) button opens the Create new Eplan Cloud database dialog. You can create a new database there. The new Eplan Cloud database is entered immediately as the selected database source.

The currently selected Eplan Cloud database is displayed in the title bar of the Parts management dialog as follows: "Parts management - Eplan Cloud database: '<Database name>'".

SQL Server:

Select this option and click [...] to specify the settings for using an SQL Server in the SQL Server setting dialog.
Or click (New) in order to generate a new database in the subsequent dialog.
Or you select the desired SQL database from the drop-down list of the 15 ones last used. In it the databases used last are listed at the top. When a new database that is not yet contained in the list is opened / generated , the lowest database may be removed from the list. The list can be emptied with the exception of the database currently being used via the popup menu item Delete entries.

The currently selected server is then displayed in the title bar of the Parts management dialog.

When an SQL database is used, the search is always carried out in all languages.

Use SQL Server full-text search:

Only available for the SQL Server option. If this check box is activated, the full-text search integrated on the SQL Server is used for the Find field in the parts management. This accelerates the search, but different results are achieved compared to the "normal" search in SQL databases. This also applies for the search in the part selection, in the part master data navigator and for the search for part properties in the insert center.

If the check box is deactivated, no full-text search is used for the search in SQL databases.

API:

Click [...] to open the Settings: API part selection dialog. It is there that you specify which parts properties should be used from the external database and which should be saved in the project.

Extend parts data using:

If the Eplan-specific technical parts data are to be supplemented by commercial data from coupled systems such as PMS, you can achieve this by using the table of the subsequent dialog Extend parts data that is opened by using the [...] button. So when you select a scheme for part selection, not only can you determine a data source (Scheme field in this dialog), but you can also select other data sources that must also be defined as schemes.

Tree configuration:

Select the scheme to be used for displaying the tree in parts management and part selection from this drop-down list. Click [...] to edit an existing scheme or create a new scheme using the Tree configuration dialog.
If different tree view are desired for part selection and parts management (e.g. one for project design and one for master data editing), you can create several schemes with different tree configurations in the part settings and easily switch between the tree views by selecting a scheme.

Expand tree view with linked objects:

For a part there are often dependencies with other objects (assigned accessories, stored drilling pattern, etc.). The setting can be used to display these links below a part or below a part variant in the tree of the parts management.

If this check box is activated, all objects linked with the part or with the part variant are displayed in the tree below a part or a part variant (accessory parts, components of a module or an assembly, etc.). This setting also applies to the tree of the part selection and the tree of the part master data navigator. The links displayed below a part or a part variant are identified by the icon . Via the Go to popup menu item you can directly navigate from the link to the respective object.

For a part with activated Discontinued part property the entered Replacement part is displayed in addition to the links.

If the check box is deactivated, no linked objects are displayed in the tree below the parts or part variants.

Display Data Portal node:

If this check box is activated, the "Data Portal" icon is displayed above the main node for the parts in the tree and combination view of the parts management and the part selection.

If the check box is deactivated, the "Data Portal" icon in the parts management and in the part selection is hidden.

Modification allowed during selection:

If this check box is selected, existing parts in the parts management module are modified and new parts are created when you select a part on the Parts tab of the Properties dialog for components. In the case of an outdated parts database a query is then also placed for updating at the part selection.

If you have signed in to the Eplan Cloud, the "Data Portal" icon is also displayed in the tree and combination view of the part selection. With this you can open the Eplan Data Portal in a browser window and select and download part master data.

If the check box is not selected, parts can only be selected. They cannot be created or edited.

Placeholder object / Macro box: Adopt part number without synchronizing parts:

If this check box is activated, the Conflict dialog is not displayed for the value set assignment via a placeholder object / macro box, and no data are transferred from the parts management.

If the check box is deactivated the Conflict dialog is displayed and you can decide which data to retain and which will be overwritten.

Update device data after the storing of parts:

If the parts in the project are older than in the parts database, the newer data is stored in the project during a parts database synchronization.

If this check box is activated, the newer device data is also transferred to the main functions that use these parts, in addition to the parts data synchronization. Only the data from the function templates are transferred to the main functions. Further data of the parts is not transferred since the part reference data at the main functions has been deliberately changed.

If the check box is deactivated, no device data is updated in the project.

Summarize function templates automatically:

If this check box is activated, the function templates located at the subparts are combined automatically after each change in the Parts management dialog for assemblies and modules. This also takes place after a parts data import or in the case of modifications via the Eplan API.

If the check box is deactivated, the function templates of assemblies and modules are not summarized automatically. In this case you have to summarize the function templates in the parts management manually so that the function templates of an assembly or a module are up-to-date after modifications.

Set origin database:

If this check box is activated, the directory and the name of the set parts database are automatically entered into the Origin database property when a new part is created. This way, you can see in which parts database the part was originally created.

This takes place when a part is created via the New popup menu item, when a part is copied, and when a part is created via external editing or via an ECLASS import.

The property is not set when importing in EDZ / XML format or from the Eplan Data Portal.

The data automatically entered in the Origin database property can be manually deleted, edited or changed via external editing. You can also make entries for existing parts.

If the check box is deactivated, no automatic entries are made for the origin database when creating parts.

Edit part variants of a node together:

If this check box is activated, all part variants of a part are taken into consideration and changed together when a part node is selected in the tree view. In this case, Eplan behaves as if a multiple selection was being made for all variants of a part.

If the check box is deactivated, only the first variant of the part is changed during the selection of a part node in the tree view.
