If you are signed in to the Eplan Cloud, you can set the Eplan Cloud as the database source in the parts management. This way you can exchange and also edit a common stock of parts data with other users.
The following is possible:
- You can upload individual parts and/or records of an Eplan parts database into the Eplan Cloud.
- You can upload local Eplan parts databases to the Eplan Cloud.
- You can use a parts database from the Eplan Cloud as the database source.
If the Eplan Cloud option is set as the database source in the Settings: Parts (user) dialog, the data is downloaded when an Eplan Cloud database is selected for the first time, and a local copy of the database is created. This allows the data to be synchronized. This way the parts data can be changed both locally and in the Eplan Cloud.
Synchronization of the parts data
A check is carried out between the local copy of the database and the database available online in the Eplan Cloud at the following actions:
- At the program start
- When the parts management is opened
- When the parts management is closed
If newer data is found in the Eplan Cloud database during the program start or when the parts management is opened, or if changed local data is available when the parts management is closed, a prompt is displayed with which you can synchronize the parts data.
You also have the possibility to synchronize an Eplan Cloud database set as a database source outside the parts management. To this purpose, the Synchronize Eplan Cloud database command is available in the Master data tab below the Management button.
Error messages when synchronizing the parts data or when uploading parts to the Eplan Cloud
If errors occur during the synchronization of the parts data or during the upload of parts into the Eplan Cloud via the button 
(Upload master data to the Eplan Cloud), the process is canceled and you are informed about these errors by means of error messages.
Incorrect parts cannot be uploaded to the Eplan Cloud. Errors can occur, for example, through manual modifications in XML files (and their import) or through modifications via the Eplan API.
The following three module-specific check runs are available in the error class 502 "Part master data" to check the parts during synchronization or upload to the Eplan Cloud:
- The check run 502055 checks whether a part exists several times.
- The check run 502056 identifies the parts with faulty properties. This can, for example, be a missing value for the variant designation.
- The check run 502057 checks whether a value was assigned for the ERP / PDM number <x> property that was already assigned for another part.
The error messages are listed in the Messages tab of the parts management. From there you can use the Go to popup menu item to go to the respective part and correct the error.
If several errors exist at a part, an error message is output for each error. System messages are output for errors at other record types (for example accessory list, drilling pattern, etc.) or for serious errors (for example database not available).
If errors occur when uploading via the button (Upload master data to the Eplan Cloud), the Eplan parts database selected for upload is preset as the database source in the Settings: Parts (user) dialog and can be corrected directly.
Part-specific master data
The files entered at the parts (macros, images, documents) are not downloaded as well when an Eplan Cloud database is specified as the database source. This data has to be downloaded separately as master data from the Eplan Cloud. To this purpose, you have to specify a corresponding Eplan Cloud master data scheme in the Settings: Directories dialog.
