The change protection serves to protect the objects in a project (pages, functions, segments from the pre-planning, etc.) against any kind of change. The respective objects cannot be edited, deleted, etc. subsequently and all the fields are grayed out in the respective property dialogs.
When the change protection is activated at the selected objects, the properties Change protection (ID 3014) and Change protection (hierarchical) (ID 3015) are activated automatically. Only the property Change protection (hierarchical) is activated for subordinate objects, for example the functions of a page with change protection. These properties serve only for display and cannot be edited manually.
The change protection is carried out automatically by the program at some functionalities in the EPLAN Platform (for example when a subproject is filed off). However, you can use the Configure protection dialog to assign a manual change protection specifically to one or more pages, functions or segments.
The various application cases of change protection act additively. A page created in pre-planning with change protection can, for example, have an automatic change protection assigned to it again when subprojects are filed off. In such a case this page disposes of two types of change protection due to the actions carried out. When the subproject is filed back on, the change protection through filing off becomes invalid, while the other change protection through the pre-planning remains.
Automatic change protection
An automatic change protection becomes effective at the following applications in the EPLAN Platform:
- In EPLAN Pro Panel:
When 3D models are imported from CAD programs, the imported 3D objects in the design space are protected against change. The required components from EPLAN Pro Panel can nevertheless be added to the 3D models for the 3D mounting layout. - In pre-planning:
When pages are created by using macros, the created pages can be protected against changes. The project-specific setting Change protection when creating pages has to be activated to this purpose. - In subprojects:
When subprojects are created, the filed-off objects (pages, layout spaces, etc.) are protected in the original project against changes. In addition, a change protection can also be assigned to the filed-off subprojects. - In revised defined working sections:
When you revise defined working sections by means of the change tracking, the associated pages or layout spaces have a change protection assigned as soon as you complete the defined working section.
Change protection for structure identifiers
The structure identifiers of a project are also protected automatically against changes at some functionalities in the EPLAN Platform (for example when a subproject is filed off). This protects the structure identifiers themselves and the respective describing texts.
In order to assign a change protection manually to structure identifiers or to deactivate an automatic change protection temporarily, you can also branch from the structure identifier management into the configuration dialog for the protection. The popup menu item Configure protection is available to this purpose in the tree as well as in the list.
