Eplan offers you the possibility to synchronize your parts data with the Eplan Cloud. To this purpose, you can now use a parts database from the Eplan Cloud as the database source in the parts management.
Benefit:
By using an Eplan Cloud database, multiple users can share, exchange, and edit a common set of parts data. Users can also temporarily work offline without connection to the Eplan Cloud and synchronize their parts data with the Eplan Cloud again at a later time.
To this purpose, the new Eplan Cloud option has been added to the Settings: Parts (user) dialog in the Database source group box. The buttons located next to the Eplan Cloud option offer you the following options:
- With the [...] button you can branch to a subsequent dialog where you can select one of the existing Eplan Cloud databases.
- You can create a new Eplan Cloud database by using the familiar
(New) button. - With the new
(Upload master data to the Eplan Cloud) button you can branch into the subsequent Upload local parts database to the Eplan Cloud dialog and there upload a local parts database to the Eplan Cloud.
Synchronization of the parts data
If the new Eplan Cloud option is activated, the data is downloaded when an Eplan Cloud database is selected for the first time, and a local copy of the database is created. This allows the data to be synchronized. This way the parts data can be changed both locally and in the Eplan Cloud.
If newer data is found in the Eplan Cloud database during the program start or when the parts management is opened, or if changed local data is available when the parts management is closed, a prompt is displayed with which you can synchronize the parts data.
You also have the possibility to synchronize an Eplan Cloud database set as a database source outside the parts management. To this purpose, the Synchronize Eplan Cloud database command is available in the Master data tab below the Management button.
New check runs for uploading or synchronizing parts to the Eplan Cloud
If errors occur when uploading via the button (Upload master data to the Eplan Cloud) or when synchronizing parts to the Eplan Cloud, the process is canceled and you are informed of these errors by means of error messages.
Incorrect parts cannot be uploaded to the Eplan Cloud. Errors can occur, for example, through manual modifications in XML files (and subsequent importing) or through modifications via the Eplan API.
The following three new module-specific check runs are available in the error class 502 "Part master data" to check the parts during the upload to or synchronization with the Eplan Cloud:
- The new check run 502055 checks whether a part exists several times.
- The new check run 502056 identifies the parts with faulty properties. This can, for example, be a missing value for the variant designation.
- The new check run 502057 checks whether a value was assigned for the ERP / PDM number <x> property that was already assigned for a different part.
The error messages are listed in the Messages tab of the parts management. From there you can use the Go to popup menu item to go to the respective part and correct the error.
If several errors exist at a part, an error message is output for each error. System messages are output for errors at other record types (for example accessory list, drilling pattern, etc.) or for serious errors (for example database not available).
If errors occur when uploading via the button (Upload master data to the Eplan Cloud), the Eplan parts database selected for upload is preset as the database source in the Settings: Parts (user) dialog and can be corrected directly.
