Configuring configurators with instances

If a configurator contains elements for which the possibility was defined in DesignerConfigurators and sets of rules are defined on the basis of EPLAN macros in Designer. These form the basis for the configuration and the automatic generation of the project documentation. to configure multiple instances, you have additional configuration possibilities in the Project BuilderThe project-specific configuration and the automatic generation of the project documentation takes place in the Project Builder on the basis of the configurators and sets of rules defined in the Designer.. The generation of multiple instances is not possible for Macro-Typicals and Typical-Groups. Each instance contains all the configuration variables of the source element. The number of instances to be configured is defined in Designer. It can be unlimited or limited to a certain number.

Preconditions

  • You have called up the Project Builder dialog.
  • You have selected a target project.
  • You have opened a configurator in which the generation of instances is permitted.

Procedure

In the upper section you see the configuration possibilities which are valid for the entire project documentation. In the lower section you see elements for which the generation of multiple instances is possible. The configuration possibilities in this section always refer to one instance. Instantiable elements are designated by displaying the number of instances to be generated behind the name of the element.

  1. To generate an instance, click the Add instances button.
  2. The Add instances dialog is opened.
  1. Enter the number of instances that you require for your project documentation.
  2. Click the Apply button.
  3. The instances are displayed in a tree structure below the source element.
  1. Click the name of an instance to extend the view.

Depending on how the variables of the configurator were defined in the Designer, you have different options:

  1. Enter values for the configuration variables.
  2. The values of the referenced macro variables are replaced by the values of the configuration variables during the generation of the project documentation.

and / or

  1. Specify whether macros are to be considered when the project documentation is generated. To this purpose activate or deactivate the Active check box under the name of the corresponding macro.
  2. All the macros at which you have activated the check box are considered during generation.

and / or

  1. Enter the desired structure identifiers for the macros.
  2. After the project documentation has been generated, the structure identifiers are available in the page navigator of the EPLAN platform.
  1. Repeat Steps 5 - 7 for all instances which you want to generate.
  2. Click the Generate configuration button.

Notes

  • You have to enter a value at all the variables that begin with an *. Otherwise generation of the project documentation cannot be carried out.
  • All the elements whose usage has already been specified in the Designer are not displayed.
  • All the variable values are stored for the specified target project. If the configurator on which your configuration is based changes, you have to repeat the configuration.

Tip

You can click the button in the top left-hand corner of the Project Builder in order to return to the preceding step.
